Blasphemy to Senior Citizen by TATA POWER DELHI DISTRIBUTION LTD

Dear Sir / M'am

I am writing to you in mental agony and such a huge harassment by TPDDL , which has left me with nothing but risk my life after such a pain.My name is Om Prakash Arora , R/O AC BLOCK , POCKET - 4 , HOUSE NO 62B SHALIMAR BAGH , DELHI - 110088.I have been living in this house for past 25 years with my wife who is also a Senior Citizen as I am .

We were living in content , peacefully until the day - 28th August , 1345hrs when 03 men claiming to be from Tata Power came to my house and asked me in a threatening voice to open the house for inspection.Upon my asking politely to show their id card , they told me that it's none of my business to check anything and infact if i will not open the door , i shall bear the consequences.I was afraid and told them that me and my wife are alone at home and you may come back in the evening while i will call my son from the office who lives in Pitampura.

To this they were hostile and abused me a couple of times and said that i should pay them for the visit or else they will create problem in my existing meter and will put charges which i will have to bear later.I told them firm and politely that i have nothing and i am not going to pay any heed to their threat.I could manage to hear the name of the person while the other two who were waiting downstairs called him that "Chal Nitin , humne kaam kar diya hai niche , aur baaki likh denge jo likhna hai".

Since then , i was worried and told about it to my Son and Daughter who were also concerned as my wife is a heart patient have suffered problems in the past due to her health.Post this , one day on the morning of 16th September 2012 , we received a letter from TPDDL which was a "SHOW CAUSE NOTICE" of "DISHONEST ABSTRACTION OF ENERGY".Me and my wife were under severe shock and got so worried that why are we being targetted , and my wife fell down on the floor in absolute stress and tension to which i had to call my Daughter in Law and my Son who was on his Sales Visit in Gurgaon.

Eventually , i did not gave up and went to the office of Enforcement Assessment Cell for the personal hearing at EAC Building , Sector - 3 Rohini where they harassed me to the maximum while i contested that all my previous and current bills are being paid and i am a bonafide citizen to which they gave a damn and asked me to give a letter along with the evidence / enclosures what all i have post which they may evaluate. While in grief and severe stress i was moving out , i could see many people sitting there for one charge or the other. My hearing was done in presence of Mr Aditya (Authorized Officer from TPDDL) , who asked me to present all documents.

I happen to submit all enclosures / valid documents to EAC office on 26th September with the letter stating all the details of bill paid.

To this , the last hammer on my injuries were strike by sending another letter on 12th of October again , stating the notice of disconnection along with a speaking order that i have to pay Rs 63831 for the same reason and that i have not submitted any enclosures or letter to the office of EAC nor was i present for personal hearing.

Me and my wife since then are living in fear and tension by the day, and have no support from anyone.Media is our only support who can get us justice as all my money had been invested in my Children's higher studies and we are solely dependent on some savings from the Government Aid of pension scheme.

Please help me , it's my sincere request with folded hands.

Yours Faithfully ,

Om Prakash Arora

Delhiites unhappy with meagre power rate cut : New York Daily News

New Delhi, Oct 22 — Delhiites are not happy with a paltry decrease in power tariff announced by the Delhi government Monday, said a representative of a residents' group.

"We are not at all happy with the announcement. It is like a 'lollipop' that the government is giving to consumers," Dwarka Residents Welfare Association (RWA) president Mukesh Sinha told IANS.

"The government has fooled us. We are planning to hold a protest against the government for announcement of a meagre decrease in the power tariff," said B.S. Vohra, president of the Joint Front of RWA (East Delhi).

According to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, a domestic consumer will now be charged Rs.3.70 per unit for the first 200 units of power, the lowest slab of electricity consumption.

Consumers having monthly usages between 201 to 400 units, however, will now have to shell out 70 paise more per unit -- Rs.5.50 instead of Rs.4.80 earlier. Customers were earlier charged a flat Rs.4.80 for the first 400 units.

Dainik Hindustan

: Nav Bharat Times

DERC reverts to cheaper power slabs : Daily Pioneer

In a relief to small domestic consumers, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has revised the power tariff slab; partially restoring the old structure before the power tariff was increased in May. There will be much relief to consumers using power between 201 to 400 units.
“The Commission has observed that the proposed rationalisation would definitely benefit the consumers in the range of 200 to 400 units where the percentage increase in bills would come down on an average by 15 per cent,” DERC Secretary Jayashree Raghuraman said.
Giving an example, she said the monthly bill of a consumer consuming 201 units as per existing rate would have been Rs964.80 which will come down to Rs745.50 following reintroduction of 201-400 slab which means a reduction of tariff by 22.73 per cent
As per DERC calculation, the monthly bill for consumption of 400 units will come down by 4.17 per cent as the bill would be Rs1,840 instead of Rs1,920.
Raghuraman said all the three private distribution companies have been told to make suitable adjustments in the next bills to provide the benefits of introduction of 201-400 units slab. The DERC made the announcement on Monday.
The DERC had revised the power tariff slab in the month of June this year. Not only had the tariffs gone up, but the Commission had also changed the slab. In the slab that was introduced in the month of June, the household units consuming 0-200 units paid Rs3.70 per unit, while those from 0-400 units were charged at Rs4.80 per unit. The revision had resulted in a steep hike in electricity bills.
The DERC on Monday while switching back to the old power tariff slab also announced a hike in the tariff rate. From the earlier Rs4.80 for consumers using 0-400 units of power, those consuming between 201-400 units will pay Rs5.50. “The rationalisation will benefit
consumers in the range of 200-400 units where the percentage increase in bills would come down on an average by about 15 per cent,” said a DERC official.
The DERC through a public hearing earlier this month had called for suggestions from the various stakeholders. It had also received about 300 recommendations from various stakeholders all across the city. The resident bodies of Delhi are calling it a clumsy attempt of the DERC to rectify the previous mistake. They have also criticised the Commission for not considering the other demands.
"It is time that DERC as an office should shut all business and thus, save money which will then give a higher relief to the consumers who are reeling under the impact of arbitrarily hiked tariffs over the past 10 months," said Rajiv Kakria of Greater Kailash Resident Welfare Association. The resident bodies are also of the view that the DERC has revised the slab but it has failed in every aspect of regulation and has not approved of the CAG audits into the accounts of the discoms. "When the power tariffs are hiked, it is at the rate of 24 to 28 per cent and when it is lowered it is only a matter of few paise," said BS Vohra of East Delhi RWAs Joint Front.

Residents demand full rollback of hiked tariffs : Hindustan Times

Even as political parties and other groups were seen clamouring to claim credit for the revision in power tariffs by power regulator Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), they demanded a complete rollback of the hiked tariffs. They claimed that it was only partial relief to the consumers and the hike in tariffs should be completely taken back.
Arvind Kejriwal, who burnt electricity bills protesting the tariff hike, termed it “partial victory”. “It is a partial victory and our agitation will continue till the time government rolls back the entire hike,” said Kejriwal, leader of India Against Corruption (IAC).
BJP, the principal opposition party, which had held several protests against the power tariff hike, claimed the revision is mere eyewash. “The way in which the DERC has made changes in the slab rates at the request of Delhi government is actually cheating with the people of Delhi. BJP strongly condemns this increase and our movement to protest against power tariff hike will continue with full force till the increase in power tariffs is withdrawn,” said BJP state unit president Vijender Gupta.
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on Monday reinstated the 201 to 400 units slab, which it had scrapped earlier. The abolition of the 201-400 units slab and introduction of 0-400 units slab had resulted in significant increase in electricity bills of the majority of consumers whose consumption was below 400 units but above 200 units.
While reinstating the 201-400 slab, the DERC slightly revised the tariff structure for those consuming above 400 units by 10 paisa to Rs. 6.50 per unit.
Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) also demanded a complete rollback. “This revision by DERC is a clumsy attempt to rectify a mistake they had committed. It is time to wind up DERC, money thus saved will give a higher relief to the consumers reeling under the impact of arbitrarily hiked tariffs over the past 10 months. They do not protect the consumers while thumbing a nose at the Electricity Act, keeping their invisible masters happy and wealthy,” said Rajiv Kakaria, member of Greater Kailash I RWA.
“This is not the kind of revision that we were expecting. We want the government to roll back the hike; until that is done we will continue our struggle,” said BS Vohra, east Delhi RWAs joint front.
Mukesh Sharma, parliamentary secretary to the chief minister, also claimed credit, saying he along with Shahdara MLA Narendra Nath had also filed a petition with DERC demanding revision of tariffs.
“DERC should have retained Rs. 4.80 as the tariff for units consumed between 201 to 400 rather than increasing it to Rs. 5.50,” said Pankaj Aggarwal, general secretary of Delhi RWA joint front.

Dengue: Symptoms, causes and treatment

How to prevent dengue

The alarming rise in cases of dengue across cities in the country has become a cause of worry.

The alarming rise in cases of dengue across cities in the country has become an increasing cause of worry. It now more important than ever to be aware of the risk factors, and protect yourself. Prevention in this case, is truly better than cure.

What is dengue?

Dengue is a disease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. Dengue cannot be spread directly from person to person, i.e., is not contagious. A person can only become infected by the bite of a mosquito that is infected with the dengue virus. It is important to note that these mosquitoes bite during the daytime as well as nighttime.

Symptoms

Dengue usually begins with chills, headache, pain while moving the eyes, and backache. Persistent high fever is characteristic of dengue. Other symptoms to watch out for are exhaustion, backache, joint pains, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure and rash.

Treatment

Because dengue is caused by a virus, there is no specific treatment for it; treatment of dengue is typically concerned only with the relief of symptoms. People who show the symptoms mentioned above should immediately consult a physician. It is important to drink plenty of fluids, stay hydrated, and get as much rest as possible.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF)

DHF is a more severe form of dengue and can be fatal if untreated. It tends to affect children under the age of ten, and causes abdominal pain, hemorrhage (bleeding), and circulatory collapse (shock).

Prevention

There is no vaccine to prevent dengue. Prevention of dengue requires eradication of the mosquitoes that carry this virus. This means high standards of hygiene and sanitation. Avoid areas littered with garbage. All containers of stationary water (like drums or buckets) should be covered or discarded, including flower vases and pets' feeding bowls. If your area is infested with mosquitoes, wear long sleeves, use mosquito repellants and fumigate if necessary.

DERC REVISES SLABS FOR CONSUMERS

It has become a trend of recent governments to privatise an organization in to a profitable agency which can serve the purpose of revenue generation.

we are seeing the effects of privitasation in electricity (revised tariff after some intervals) and now same thing is all set for water. We should oppose it in front of public!! LS can demand one line solution that is "roll back of all prices hikes and naitonalization of power generation agencies" simply no privatization in electricy and water-supply..

We can start protest cum public meetings on this topic from one location like at Preet Vihar. public should notice the LS stand on power crisis. Remember this notice should not come from media side, instead it should come from public gatherings held at colonies, nukkads, streets..

201 to 400: Rs 5.50,
400 and above: Rs 6.50

This is nothing but hoodwinking the citizens of New Delhi in collusion with Congress government. If we look at figures below:

Consumption:
Peak Hour             3800-4200MW
Average 3100-3200MW
Shortage               800-1200MW

Power plants for Delhi:
NTPC Badarpur – 705MW
NTPC DAdri – 817MW
Reliance Dadri – 3000MW
IP Gas turbine – 270MW
Pragati 1 – 330MW
Pragati II – 1500MW
Pragati III – 750MW
Indira Gandhi STPP, Jhajjhar, Haryana – 750MW out of capapcity of 1500

Total earmarked capacity for Delhi is à 5122MW and Reliance Dadri still unoperational.

Power from exchanges is available at Rs.3-5/unit and mostly at Rs.4/unit all inclusive  - so there is no need to buy power at Rs.6/unit – this was done basically to provide proof of higher cost and insist for revised tariff

We should stop all power generation companies and straight away buy from the exchange at lower prices. Further why should DIAL & other establishments be subsidised for private organisations. Another case of corruption and ELEGATE and Lok Satta Party strongly condemns all increase. In Fact consumers should be charged maximum Rs.5.00/unit

Lok Satta Party will be taking their andolans to each colony and not rest till parity is restored and CAG audit of discoms done commented their state president Shri Anurag Kejriwal.

For Lok Satta Party

Best Regards

Anurag Kejriwal
