Now you all know that a grave danger of Japanese Encephalitis is looming over Delhi. Almost 600 persons have died in UP alone due to this. Even Delhi has got 12 such cases in the last few days. Japanese encephalitis is a culex mosquito-borne viral infection. It is endemic in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and pigs are reservoirs of the virus. Infection in pigs is asymptomatic.
The symptoms may be a flu-like illness with sudden onset of fever, chill, headache, tiredness, nausea and vomiting and may occur in one among 250 infected humans. The illness can progress to encephalitis and can be fatal in 30 per cent of the cases if not treated early.
The details of Symptoms, causes, risk factors etc. have already been uploaded by us on the blog under the following link : http://rwabhagidari.blogspot.com/2011/10/rwas-plz-start-generating-awareness-on.html
