For RWAs, Ravan is power tariff hike

Associations to torch a 30-m high effigy shaped like a power meter
Equating the recent power tariff hike in Delhi with the demon God Ravan, Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) have made an effigy of an electricity meter and plan to torch it on Dussehra night.
“The effigy has already been made. It is 30 meters in height and will be in the shape of a power meter. It is black in colour. We are planning to burn it in the senior citizens centre in E block of Greater Kailash II,” said Chetan Sharma, representing a conglomeration of RWAs from the area.
Similar protests have also been lined up in Greater Kailash I and New Friends Colony by RWAs.

“We have created a special effigy which we will burn along with the traditional Ravan effigy. Basically, it is shaped like a power meter. A huge banner will be draped around it with the message that people are not happy with the new tariff. The message we want conveyed is that this is the demon of today,” said Rajeev Kakria, chairman of the GK-1 RWA.
