on Sunday, 27th Nov. at 9.30 am at Talkatora Stadium ..... be there

Can I afford to be seen with them...... I do not wish to be associated with politicians ...... why should we join that group ....... but I am a Congress supporter so cannot be seen openly opposed to this hike, but I support you ....... why are you supporting that group or Politician ...... we do not like that persons style of functioning ...... that guy will hijack the movement ...... what will we get out of it as a group ....... its their movement, they did not support our movement so why should we ...... we should not associate with people who have political ambitions ...... I would rather pay more than be seen with them.

These words/thinking must be Music to the Ears of the Delhi Government and DISCOMS

I too have a Dilemma ..... how can I be in the good books of all ....... or should I be with the cause.

We have worked so hard and have not got the desired results. There are just four ways to take up this cause ......

1) Present your case before DERC - We presented a very spirited and well researched case to DERC and to our disappointment they chose to side with DISCOMS basing their decision on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) which is totally Flawed. Most of you are aware of all we have done in the past six months.

2) Get MLAs to raise it in Vidhan Sabha - The MLAs should have raised it in the Vidhan Sabha but do they have the Researched Facts for an informed debate in the house. Only one MLA got in touch with some of us to understand the details and we gladly shared our research. He has promised to take it up in the house. We hope something positive will come out of it .... if not we are not any worse off.

3) Get the Public to hit the Streets - Lets face it we as a group do not have the where-with-all or the following to get people to hit the streets. We can drum up support on email, facebook etc but that does not count ..... neither the Govt. nor the Media is impressed. Yes it makes great Drawing Room chat as to how it could have been handled to get instant results. Mr. Vijay Goel (BJP) got in touch with some of us and offered to help make it a Mass Movement ...... after some deliberation some of us have decided to make common cause and fight it unitedly while retaining our individuality. Feel free to raise your personal banner, but do join.

4) Go to High Court - We can go to the Courts armed with the facts, but that is just what the Government wants us to do ..... the case hangs in courts till eternity and they keep raising tariffs and we have nowhere to go, the matter being sub-judice. This is and will be our last resort .....

I personally feel that we should have got the desired results from DERC ...... and we did manage to extract a CAG Audit and an enquiry on Fast Running Meters due to Residual Back Flow ...... and more polite noises on DISCOMS Performance Standards, which have remained on papers since 2002 ....... a clear case of charging more and more while giving less and less by way of Service or Quality.

I for one have decided to rise above personal affiliations, likes, dislikes and go to whoever is willing to take this fight to the next level ....... not just window dressing ...... a real effort. I DO NOT WISH TO PAY THE UNJUST POWER TARIFF HIKE ......and will go to whoever has the where-with-all to put up a spirited fight.

For your information Bijli Andolan Kicks-Off on Sunday, 6th Nov. at 9.30 am from Rajghat with a Havan, followed by many Public Awareness Meetings across the city and a huge congregation on Sunday, 27th Nov. at 9.30 am at Talkatora Stadium ..... be there.

Warm Regards,

Another price hike in Petrol expected soon ?

Yeah ! there is a news that prices of petrol may get another jump & that too, to the tune of Rs. 1.80 per lt.

In the year 2004 when the Manmohan singh Govt. came into power the price was appx. Rs. 34 per lt.

whats your answer ..

you figure it out my friend

This is a good question. Try to answer ...

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining
heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people
waiting for a bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there
could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading...

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job
application.

* You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you
should save her first;

* or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this
would be the perfect chance to ! pay him back.

* However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up
with his answer. Guess what was his answer?

He simply answered:

"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the
hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my
dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought
limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

Delhi property: Circle rates raised by up to 250%

New Delhi: The Delhi government Monday hiked the circle rates minimum prices for sale or purchase of real estate by 15 to 250 per cent, with experts welcoming the move and calling it "a step in the right direction".
"The circle rates have been increased by up to 250 per cent in A category colonies and 15 per cent in the last category (H) colonies," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.
While the circle rates for A category colonies, which include Friends Colony, Nehru Place, Green Park and Greater Kailash, will rise from Rs 86,000 per square metre to Rs 215,000, those in B category will go up 100 percent, from Rs 68,200 to Rs 136,400.
The rates of C category property will increase from Rs 54,600 to Rs 109,200.
The rates of D category - Rs 43,600 - will be revised to Rs 87,200, while the rates for E category will be Rs 47,840, up from Rs 36,800.
The new prices of F and G category will be Rs.38,640 and Rs.31,510, respectively while the price in H category has risen from Rs.13,800 to Rs.15,870.
The decision comes against the backdrop of a Supreme Court ruling holding the transaction of property based on power of attorney as invalid. The move also aims at ensuring transparency and plugging the revenue loss to the government.
Dikshit said the step has been taken to ascertain the actual rates of the property and ensure the legal transactions.
The government has also decided to review the circle rates every two years, she said.
The decision was welcomed by experts in realty sectors.
"This latest hike in circle rates in Delhi is a welcome step keeping in view wide gap between market rates and the government-determined circle rates, especially when compared to suburban Gurgaon and Noida," said Vinod Behl, editor of Realty Plus magazine.
"This will check speculation and black money transactions especially in the secondary market. It will benefit genuine buyers and bring in transparency," Behl told IANS.
Sachin Sandhir, managing director of think tank, RICS South Asia said: "The upward revision in circle rates is a step in the right direction as it will help bring some level of rationalisation in the market."
"However, the increase in rates to the extent of 250 percent may act as a deterrent and adversely affect consumer sentiment as property registrations will become costlier," he added.
"For a genuine buyer, an increase in circle rates could be regarded as a good move as consumers will now be able to avail higher loans from banks and financial institutions considering home loans are usually 80-85 percent of the purchase price or market value of the property, for which circle rates are an indicator."
The chief minister said the rationalisation of the circle rates will automatically enhance the revenue share of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by way of transfer duty.
"The total revenue generated from the circle rates will be around Rs.700-800 crore," she said.
This is the second hike this year. The circle rates being increased by 100 percent in February. The officials had cited the flow of black money in property transaction as the reason for increase in the circle rates.
The circle rates were notified for the first time on July 18, 2007.

POWER TARIFF ?

DERC had asked for Public Hearings a few months ago & a large number of RWAs participated to present the views & opinions. But the outcome was as hinted by CM. The prices were raised by 22%.

After that Montek Singh Ahluwalia explained about the bad conditions of DISCOMs & hinted for another price revision. Now a few days ago CM has again hinted for another power tariff hike and that too, very soon. Earlier NBT had published a news that power tariff will be hiked by another 38% by the end of December. If this increase of Power tariff takes place, it will mean 22 % + 38% = 60 % power Tariff upward.

Just can not understand that when CM has agreed for the CAG Audit, why dont the DISCOMS wait for the CAG Audit Report. The Public has full faith in CAG & the outcome will be significant as it will reveal that Power Tariff is to be increased or decreased and by what percentage.

If our members / viewers / visitors have any thing in mind, may we request them to mail us for uploading on this blog.

Now you all know that a grave danger of Japanese Encephalitis is looming over Delhi. Almost 600 persons have died in UP alone due to this. Even Delhi has got 12 such cases in the last few days. Japanese encephalitis is a culex mosquito-borne viral infection. Japanese Encephalitis looming over Delhi, government takes pre-emptive action

Posted on: 28 Sep 2011, 04:13 PM

New Delhi: To pre-empt the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister Dr AK Walia has given directions to the Animal Husbandry Department and MCD to send blood samples of pigs to the National Research Centre for Equine (NRCE) at Hisar.
Walia also spoke to the Director of Centre of Public Health requesting him to send the results of the samples to the Delhi government within 2-3 days. The Health Minister on Tuesday attended a meeting with senior officials to discuss the prevention of Japanese Encephalitis.
In the meeting, it was also decided that Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital in Jehangirpuri, Mahrishi Balmiki Hospital in Pooth Khurd and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini would be developed as new diagnostic centres to offer treatment to the people suffering from the disease.
Walia said that four cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been confirmed yet.

UP: Encephalitis kills 6 more, death toll 438

Gorakhpur: With six more persons succumbing to encephalitis, the death toll in the viral disease in eastern Uttar Pradesh has climbed to 438 this year, health officials said on Friday.
At present, 261 people suffering from encephalitis are undergoing treatment at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur besides in some other district hospitals.
The six deaths have been reported in the last two days, the officials said. More than 2600 patients were admitted to government hospitals in the region this year of which 438 have died, they said.
CNN-IBN had reported on the alarming situation last week, following which the UP government had granted Rs 18 crore to build more wards for patients. But it's a paltry sum compared to the over Rs 600 crore spent for the Ambedkar Park in Noida that is being inaugurated on Friday.
Infact UP Chief Minister Mayawati has spent Rs 2500 crore on five such major parks across the state.
The majority of patients are suffering from water-borne entero-virus encephalitis while the cases of Japanese Encephalitis are about 10 per cent of the total encephalitis patients admitted this year to government hospitals.

Japanese Encephalitis ( JE ) cases rise to 12, govt calls meet

NEW DELHI: Delhi government has called an urgent meeting to discuss the steps needed to check the spread of Japanese Encephalitis in the city. The number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease, which was first reported on September 21 from Bawana area in northwest Delhi, has gone up to 12.

Dr R P Vashishtha, state surveillance officer, said six persons tested positive for the disease in hospitals while the rest have been reported at the community level. There was no reason to panic as the JE cases were mild in nature, he said.

"We have launched largescale surveillance in community settings to identify JE cases in areas like Rohini, Shastri Park, Inderpuri, Raghubir Nagar, Mangolpuri and Khichripur. Pigs are the hosts of JE and it spreads through mosquitoes. Civic bodies have been asked to intensify fogging operations to check its spread," said Dr Vashishtha.

He, however, said that all blood samples taken from pigs in the affected areas have tested negative. Health minister A K Walia said he is going to hold a meeting of top health officials in two days. "We will be discussing the preventive steps and ways to identify the source., " he said.
