Govt may expand ambit of scrutiny

New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to expand the scope of scrutiny into the regularization scam involving unauthorized colonies. It plans to look beyond the 125-odd colonies that were issued showcause notices last week after discrepancies were found in RWA claims and MCD verification reports on mandatory built-up area.

Now, even the 1018 colonies found eligible from a total of 1639 unauthorised colonies are now open to scrutiny.

A K Walia, who took charge of the urban development portfolio, said all colonies will be put through a thorough scrutiny before regularization takes place. This could mean a longer wait for eligible colonies before they get the legal tag. And those colonies which violated the eligibility criteria set out under the regularization guidelines, it could actually be the end of the road.
