New Delhi: MCD Commissioner K S Mehra on Thursday assured strict action against mushrooming "illegal constructions" in various East Delhi residential colonies.
During a meeting with the representatives of Residents Welfare Associations, he also said sanctioned building plans would be revoked if irregularities were found and buildings violating byelaws would be demolished, according to a press statement issued by RWA Federation Delhi (East).
The RWA members apprised the Commissioner about "illegal constructions" by "builder mafia" allegedly in league with MCD officials in East Delhi colonies like Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Laxmi Nagar, Anand Vihar, Jagriti Enclave, Kiran Vihar and Ram Vihar.

ReplyDeleteWest Delhi residents specially in the regularized private colonies on Jail Road, e.g. G Block, Shiv Nagar and Virender Nagar, have been witnessing that Superintending Engineer, WZ-II, in DC(West), MCD Office, and his Jr. Engineers are hand-in-glove with the Builders Mafia. Sanctions are obtained for stilt (ground floor for parking) and three floors above a plot initially. After completing the building upto three floors, after greasing the palms of the engineering staff, Completion Certificates are obtained. Actual irregularities start thereafter. Stilt is covered to be sold as ground floor and an additional FOURTH FLOOR is built on the same building for which completion certificate is obtained. No one from SE's office every visits these buildings though complaints in writing are sent to his office. Thus the top floor is sold for anything between Rs.40 lacs to 80 lacs and stilt (Parking) is sold to another buyer to be used as ground floor residential premises. These buildings not only violate the HEIGHT CONDITIONS OF MCD but are also opening flouting all regulations. Shri KS Mehra may please have his Vigillance Branch activated to investigate these illegalities in his organisation and for stern action against the erring Engineering and other staff.
