Demonetization : India in Queue

A good and bold step by PM of India, but Public is sad and angry on account of mismanagement on the part of the Bankers. Long queues for a meagre 4000 rupees and that too at the mercy of banks. Though the public generally supported the move by the Government with a hope for the better, but seems the banks are unable to cope up with the huge rush of the cash starved residents.

Suggestions to check Air pollution

Dear Sir,

Few suggestions to check pollution. As per report published in HT

Causes
1.Pollution from Crackers 11%
2.Stubble and waste burning 26%
3.Road dust 38%
4.Vehicular emission 20%
5.Thermal power plants 5%

Suggestions

1.Instead of Total Ban on crackers due to religious practices ,tribunal should allow crackers with permissible limits of sound and air pollution. No to Cracker campaigns have lost its appeal and a law needs to be framed to check indiscriminate usage of crackers. Community Deepawali be celebrated, ban sale of crackers to individuals.

2. Agriculture waste should be used for making organic compost, Government `should issue guidelines in this direction by declaring it as a source of carbon for organic composting after consultations with agriculture ministry. Farmers will not burn resource.

3.
a)Constructions be stopped during peak pollution months and sprinklers be made mandatory on construction sites.
b) Sweeping of roads by brooms be stopped instead dust suction machines be used. As immediate measures sweeping be allowed twice a week. impose heavy fines on littering of garbage.
c) installation of sprinklers be made mandatory on high rise buildings, these to be made operational during fixed hours especially  during peak hours of pollution.
d) Guidelines and penalties to Polluting industries / factories.
e)Since lower speed of vehicles leads to more pollution ,odd even scheme should be implemented again.
f) improve last mile connectivity to metro stations, shared autos be encouraged

g) Goods trains to run on metro lines after midnight to check pollution by trucks entering the city.

4. Emissions from power plants be checked by installing filters or water sprinklers as wind carries dust particles from as far as 300km so even power stations based outside the city continue to pollute environment.

5. Total ban on dumping of wet green waste on landfill sites as this waste when burns with plastic waste produces green house toxic  gases. All landfill sites continuously generate smoke due to slow burning of wet waste. Sites for neighbourhood composting should be earmarked to reduce waste generation.Awareness campaigns on importance of waste segregation and composting at source be launched. Trainings be conducted in this regard.

7 Total ban on manufacturing and sale of polybags as they emit toxic fumes at landfill sites.

6. Horticulture department should plant more trees which have smaller leaves to trap dust particles eg  Amla, tamrind ,Shishir ,Neem and gulmohar.

Best regards

How to pick the right helmet: That roadside, low-cost one won’t save your head : Hindustan Times

Cheap, poor-quality helmets are not hard to come by in the Capital. In fact, you can find these for as low as Rs 25 at the nearby general stores. It may save you some money but may end up costing your life.
These fragile helmets — which look like caps made of thin plastic and sponge with attached elastic straps — do not provide the required protection in case of an accident. With no minimum quality standards, helmets have been reduced to an accessory needed only to escape the traffic cops.
“Almost three years ago I lost a close friend in a bike accident as his helmet was of poor quality, and again just seven days ago lost another friend in a bike accident as he was not wearing a helmet. To save some money we are ready to risk our lives,” said BS Vohra, president of the East Delhi Residents Welfare Association, who has been working for citizen safety for over a decade now.

Road safety activists and residents like Vohra have been stressing on the need for quality of helmets.
“I don’t blame the shopkeepers who sell low quality helmets. They sell what people buy. The government agencies which ignore the safety of commuters are to be held responsible. A person who can afford a two-wheeler costing around Rs50,000 can surely afford a safety gear worth Rs 2,500 but no one bothers as it is not mandatory,” said Mohammad Imran, founder of the NGO Safe Road Foundation which has been working to create awareness among people about safe road practices.
Imran also said that let alone an accident these cheap versions do not even survive the force of a fall. “Drop these helmets from a height of 4 feet and they will crack at the centre. How will these protect your skull from the impact of an accident?” he asks.
Making pillion riders — particularly women — wear helmets is another challenge for cops. “The skull of a woman is no different from that of a man and is likely to experience equal or more damage if not equipped with proper safety. Traffic constables hear all kinds of excuses ranging from beauty to religious reasons for not wearing helmets. The law should be equally implemented for both genders,” said joint commissioner of police (traffic), Garima Bhatnagar.

Delhi air quality plunges on Diwali, pollutants higher than limit

According to real time ambient air quality data of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), PM10 readings went up by over 42 times on Sunday from the national ambiance air quality standard at RK Puram. At 10.55pm, PM10 was recorded at 4,273 µg/m³. PM2.5 also touched an alarming high at 748µg/m³ at 2.30am here.
A DPCC official, however, said it was a mechanical error that showed the readings above 4,200µg/m³ at RK Puram. The maximum PM10 reading was recorded at 1am and it touched 1,442µg/m³, he said.
The permissible level of PM 2.5 is 60µg/m³ while PM10 is 100 µg/m³. Levels beyond that can cause harm to the respiratory system as the ultra fine particulates can embed themselves deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream.

Happy Diwali :

Tata Hexa Real Time Rough Road Experience !

It was a great experience with Tata Hexa that is to be launched in mid January in the coming year. We got the opportunity to have it’s test ride. It was not only a test ride, but, also the real time rough road experience that was mind blowing. The most Powerful & Energetic but a beautiful machine named - Tata Hexa – looked strong enough to meet the challenges.

We tried both the Auto as well as the manual transmission models of the vehicle. The manual transmission model offered us the four Super Drive modes i.e. Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and the Rough road. We tried our vehicles in all the above four transmission modes and the HEXA fully satisfied us at every level as it easily crossed all the ditches, curvy hills and extreme slopes with ease.

The Automatic version has a six speed automatic transmission with selectable modes – sports and the auto – sensing Race car performance with manual shift option.

It has been developed by Tata Motors in collaboration with its technology partners. It’s a power packed, feature loaded and adrenaline vehicle for the class which has an active and dynamic lifestyle.

The Top 10 features of the vehicle are its Impact design, Varicor400 Engine, Super-Drive modes, New Gen Automatic Transmission, Comprehensive safety suit, 10 speaker JBL ™ system, Smartphone applications, 19 inch Alloy wheels, Sunblinds and the Ambient mood lighting.

Truly, it is based on a new versatile platform – a complete vehicle package, with an exceptional combination of Design, Luxury, Off road and On road experiences. We tried it On the Road and found it extremely suitable to our needs and when we tried it Off road in the Rough road conditions, it looked as comfortable as it was in the On road conditions.

The exteriors of the vehicle are quite impressive with its dual-coloured bumpers, Tata signature grille, stylish new projector headlamps as well the DRLs and a lot more. Similarly the Interiors are quite inviting with Sculpted seats, accentuated bolsters with Benecke-Kaliko ™ leather feel upholstery. It has a choice of eight colours for in-cabin ambient mood.

We started from the designated place towards Vikarabad that was almost 170 KM both sides and on the way we passed through all kinds of possibilities. There were roads with good traffic, 17 km of highway, narrow stretches, single road for both ways as well as the small rural village areas with no roads with a herd of cows and we found no difficulty of any kind while driving the Hexa in its various transmission modes in both the Automatic and manual versions that we used one by one in both the ways.

Similarly, we got the opportunity to have it’s real time trial in rough road conditions in the hills, slopes, drains, ditches and it performed magnificently at all the locations. You can view the real time video of the real time Hexa experience that looked quite impressive in every possible manner. The only thing remaining is the price of the vehicle in various versions and we are sure that if the price of HEXA is within the budget, it will prove to be a big hit in the market in the coming year itself.
