POWER TARIFF ?

DERC had asked for Public Hearings a few months ago & a large number of RWAs participated to present the views & opinions. But the outcome was as hinted by CM. The prices were raised by 22%.

After that Montek Singh Ahluwalia explained about the bad conditions of DISCOMs & hinted for another price revision. Now a few days ago CM has again hinted for another power tariff hike and that too, very soon. Earlier NBT had published a news that power tariff will be hiked by another 38% by the end of December. If this increase of Power tariff takes place, it will mean 22 % + 38% = 60 % power Tariff upward.

Just can not understand that when CM has agreed for the CAG Audit, why dont the DISCOMS wait for the CAG Audit Report. The Public has full faith in CAG & the outcome will be significant as it will reveal that Power Tariff is to be increased or decreased and by what percentage.

Japanese Encephalitis looming over Delhi, government takes pre-emptive action

Posted on: 28 Sep 2011, 04:13 PM

New Delhi: To pre-empt the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister Dr AK Walia has given directions to the Animal Husbandry Department and MCD to send blood samples of pigs to the National Research Centre for Equine (NRCE) at Hisar.
Walia also spoke to the Director of Centre of Public Health requesting him to send the results of the samples to the Delhi government within 2-3 days. The Health Minister on Tuesday attended a meeting with senior officials to discuss the prevention of Japanese Encephalitis.
In the meeting, it was also decided that Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital in Jehangirpuri, Mahrishi Balmiki Hospital in Pooth Khurd and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini would be developed as new diagnostic centres to offer treatment to the people suffering from the disease.
Walia said that four cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been confirmed yet.

UP: Encephalitis kills 6 more, death toll 438

Gorakhpur: With six more persons succumbing to encephalitis, the death toll in the viral disease in eastern Uttar Pradesh has climbed to 438 this year, health officials said on Friday.
At present, 261 people suffering from encephalitis are undergoing treatment at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur besides in some other district hospitals.
The six deaths have been reported in the last two days, the officials said. More than 2600 patients were admitted to government hospitals in the region this year of which 438 have died, they said.
CNN-IBN had reported on the alarming situation last week, following which the UP government had granted Rs 18 crore to build more wards for patients. But it's a paltry sum compared to the over Rs 600 crore spent for the Ambedkar Park in Noida that is being inaugurated on Friday.
Infact UP Chief Minister Mayawati has spent Rs 2500 crore on five such major parks across the state.
The majority of patients are suffering from water-borne entero-virus encephalitis while the cases of Japanese Encephalitis are about 10 per cent of the total encephalitis patients admitted this year to government hospitals.
