Traffic Police Formulate New Rules To Check Autos And Light Transport Vehicles

There is good news for those who are tired of light four- and three-wheelers dis- turbing traffic on Delhi roads.

In an order issued on June 18, the Delhi Traffic Police has reg- ulated plying of the light trans- port and goods vehicles, both four- and three-wheelers, by assigning lanes to them.

If these vehicles drive out- side their designated lanes, they will be penalised, said senior officials of the Delhi Traffic Police.

According to official sources, currently there are 1,25,083 reg- istered light goods vehicle, including 55,000 three-seater rickshaws (TSR), on Delhi roads.

The order states that the light four-wheel transport vehicles will ply in the extreme left lane of the six-lane roads.

And the three-wheel light transport vehicles will be restricted to the second lane. Both the lanes are designated bus lanes.

On four-lane roads, three- wheel transport vehicles will ply on extreme left lane. The TSRs, however, can ply on all six lanes.

Radio Cabs At Rs 10 per km To Ferry Delhi, Govt To Give 1,000 Permits To Private Operators

In March, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had announced in the Delhi assembly that her government would consider phasing out autos if a good alternative was found for them.

Three months later, it looks like the Delhi government has finally zeroed in on an alternative: low fare non air conditioned radio taxis.

On Tuesday, Delhi transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely announced the introduction of non AC radio taxi service for Delhi. This service will be available for a flat fare of Rs 10 per kilometre.

Lovely said his department is in touch with several private operators and the first fleet of about 1,000 taxis will be rolled out in next 3-4 months.

The new radio taxi will not only pave the way to phase out the black and yellow radio taxi service, but will also limit the utility of auto rickshaws to an option for shorter distances.

Brutal cop beats RWA chief deaf

For getting a tree trimmed in his backyard

ribs and hips. All for getting a tree trimmed in his backyard.

The Jagatpuri police in northeast Delhi allegedly wanted their share of the axed tree for which they picked up Kapil Kurichh, 40, and purportedly framed him under the false charges of felling a tree. And what followed was the Radheypuri resident's welfare association president's worst nightmare.

Kurichh, along with his brother Ajay, were picked up allegedly at the behest of Rajesh Kumar, station house officer of the Jagatpuri police station, on March 21. "We were targeted because we squarely declined to pay a bribe to Rajesh Kumar's men," alleged Kurichh. He claimed that two months after the cops subjected him to physical and mental torture and despite a High Court direction all that the police had done is just order an inquiry.

"The inquiry has been on for the past one month and they are yet to come up with anything concrete," he said, showing his hand, which has now healed after a metallic plate was inserted through surgery to support the broken bone.

Tax evaders are smarter than mcd or Delhi administration

Now over a week I am in hospital but my spirit is with you.
Property tax or other taxes , the evaders know costbenefits.

Mcd or other bodies are known for inaction. That's why stAff in connivance is plundering exchequer.
BhAgidari cell has list of participAnts.
Start with any area and make the corrupt element to pay and then loose their already gotten wealth.
Immediate door to door collection will dent the zeal to conceal taxes.
Just do it sir.
Vohra ji....lead your flock and see results.

Tardy Tax Collection: Govt Threatens To Cut MCD Grant

Delhi government may be nowhere near gaining control over MCD but it does help if you hold the purse strings.

The city government has told the civic agency that they will not give Rs 2,000-3,000 crore annual grant to the civic agency unless RWAs are involved in the property tax collection process an idea that was anathema to the civic body till some time back. The government told the Planning Commission about the plan on Wednesday and the response, sources say, has been ``quite positive.''

MCD now collects tax only from a third of the total 25 lakh households in the city. The government has also constituted a task force that, armed with the data of the newly drawn up geospatial infrastructure project, will go on a house to house survey for updating the MCD's own list. MCD officials now say that they are amenable to the idea of getting RWAs to increase tax collections in return for ``incentives'' but it is for the Delhi government which involves itself with RWAs under Bhagidari to evolve the modalities.

Chief secretary Rakesh Mehta, who admitted that the idea had been discussed with MCD quite a few times earlier only to be rejected each time, says that for the government it does not make financial sense to shoulder the burden of MCD's inefficiency. ``They are at present collecting only a third of the tax that they ideally should. If they can collect even another Rs 1,000 crore or so, that would mean so much more money available to us for development. That is why we have said unless they pull up their socks, we will be forced to cut the grant,'' Mehta said.
