Haryana to release more water for Delhi

NEW DELHI: Haryana has agreed to release more water for Delhi after the level at Wazirabad pond fell from 674.5 feet to 672.8 feet on Tuesday.
To prevent a huge shortfall in supply, Haryana will release more water from Wednesday, said Delhi Jal Board officials.
Officials were, however, quick to point out that the water supply in the city is still “normal” despite the dip in the Wazirabad pond level.
“There has been a dip in the supply of raw water from Haryana. The State's water needs have gone up because of the agricultural needs at this time of the year, but Delhi has notified them (Haryana) about the dip in the pond level and they have agreed to do the needful,” said an official.

DJB AND OUR WATER METERS

How far and how long we the ordinary Citizens of India ( Mera Bharat Mahaan) can cry ? Now the tears have also dried just like our Taps " Long live DJB".

There is no end to such debates, discussions or representations. Are we not doing this for the past 50-60 years ? The entire system and rules and regulations have to be totally scraped and all new and advanced plants and machinery, Charges, the staff, the DJB systems needs overhauling to start afresh and use or misuse of water LAWS, all loop holes must be plugged, enough is enough now lets be not at the mercy of DJB officials or un-lawful misuses of drinking water in Delhi.

If no awareness/ action by the Ministry firmly on the above points, we all should be rest assured we shall have to live in such obslete systems for our life time at least. In my child hood I use to read small boards in President's Estate, " DESH KI BHALI KAY LEIA PANNI AUR BIJLI KA THEEK ISTAMAL KAREYN " Be good citizens first.Let us think on this quote.

Now even Water will cut your pockets

A hike of over 50 per cent in water tariff that was approved by the Delhi government last month has come into force from January 1. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had announced the hike in December.

From January 1, those using up to 10 kilolitres (1,000 litres) of water will have to pay Rs 82 -- up from the existing Rs 52.

Consumption between 11 and 20 kl will cost Rs 180, up from Rs 82; the slab of 30 kl is now priced at Rs 470, up from Rs 187. The charges for every kilolitre above 30 kl will cost Rs 25.

The revision in water rates has also abolished the existing monthly provision of 6,000 litres (initial consumption) of free water to every household.
