CWG volunteers ?

Dear Mr. Vohra ji,

It is a pity that there has been all over 'criticisms' on the organization of the Commonwealth Games without pondering over what citizens of Delhi and others can do! We must know that in every sphere of activity, whether collection of property tax/income-tax or payment of bills etc. the citizens of Delhi have to undergo numerous problems and we are also part of it. Govt. servants do not work but they demand only pay and perks. Unless and until the 'fear' of punishment is there ingrained in the minds of people, things will not improve however much you preach and give training etc.

You know what a collossal amount had been sent on 'training' of volunteers and officials abroad during the last four years. Let's get it and you will know what all these officials had done abroad and what they are doing now and how much money had been spent on them.

We must also know that India - our mahan Bharat - are 'masters of crisis management'. First we are loath right from the beginning, instead of doing things on a planned and phased manner and thereby create a 'crisis' in which situation many agencies and people get profitted and manage them at a short notice. I have been pleading with people if there is one gold or diamond medal at the international forum in any sphere of activity for 'crisis management' there is none in the world to beat INDIA. We are masters in 'crisis management' and nobody can match our efficiency and proficiency in this respect. It is a challenge any one can take it!

Perhaps you may be aware that one agency "City Operations' trained more than 2400 volunteers to assist the Organizing Committee in organizing the Games. They were addressed by none else than by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Shri Suresh Kalmadi, that they "will be playing a vital role as City Operations at the Games Headquarters"! But alas despite taking a number of training sessions organized by the Amity University at Noida, issuing ID cards and uniforms, no intimation whatsoever have so far been received by these volunteers, of which I am one of them (despite being an Asiad Jyoti awardee), despite a number of phone calls and e-mails. No reply has been received so far. Whereas on contrast, it is a pity that we are getting a large number of foreign volunteers to assist us and now the members of the foreign teams who are coming are volunteering to assist the OC of the CWG little knowing our background, culture, ground position and knowledge about our beautiful city etc. This is the state of affairs. We have not picked up the 'right talent' right people who are 'passionate and committed about games' and take pride in working for the Organizers but 'chammas and who blow the trumphet of the higher officials at the CWG OC' are playing a vital role. It is unfortunate that none who have had experience and expertise in 'sports administration' has been associated with the OC!

We are "Delhi United" to help the OC of the CWG but are the latter 'UNITED' to avail of our services! It is a pity that these decorated people who did yeoman services during Asiad-82 have not been even called to attend the GAMES AND HONOUR THEM!
