Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday announced that the Delhi Government planned to lay a 10-km sewerage line and 10-km water line in each constituency in a year. Dikshit's remarks came while replying to a supplementary question pertaining to water supply during Question Hour. The Chief Minister said that the Government planned to replace old sewer lines and water lines in each constituency.
The House also witnessed a verbal dual between Dikshit and Congress MLA Neeraj Basoya, a camp follower of Ajay Maken on the issue of water supply. Basoya alleged that several areas like Garhi, Defence Colony and Sewa Nagar in his constituency were not getting drinking water despite repeated complaints to the Delhi Jal Board. He alleged that he raised the issue with the Chief Minister on several occasions but the situation did not improve. Upset over his allegations, Dikshit denied that DJB was deliberately not redressing his complaints. She further advised Basoya that since he was a first time MLA he should continue pursuing his case with the officials and department concerned to facilitate proper water supply in his locality. The Chief Minister also advised members that if they have any problems they should properly pursue the matter.
