Excessive water bills to the residents of Safdarjung enclave
I am D Sanyal, R/o St. No.4/88 A-! (3rd Flor.), Krishna Nagar, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi 110 029.
I received a water bill, for the period from 01.12.2012 to 24.03.2013 for a total amount of Rs.22,390/- for a family of 4 with roof top gardening (flower pots), which might consume 10 ltrs/day
Out of this, the total water consumption charges are Rs. 13346/-
Sewerage Maintenance charge (60%) Rs. 8007/-
& Service charge Rs. 2032/-
Water cess extra
The following queries were made by me to DJB, for shich no reply has come so far.
1. The sewerage maintenance is not done regularly as a matter of routine, it is only done as and when we report of contaminated water.
2 Even in the above case, we have to shell out money to make phone calls to DJB
3. When the contaminated water flows through the DJB pipe, and sometimes it goes un noticed and a 500 ltrs. tank is filled before we notice. Hence we spend on unwanted water and electricity to pump the same.
4. What is the service DJB is providing apart from supplying water, that too not to the standard.
The addition I would like to add, that if everything is alright with DJB, then why do people go for bottled water. Is there a nexus between DJB and the Water Bottling units.
The top most objection is, that when the sewer is not cleaned regularly, why the monthly charges and why should one pay for contaminated water.
I shall be happy if these points are raised in the joint forum.

Road full of potholes uneven surface at Masjid moth
Dear Sir,
With great
pains I, a resident and a member of the Managing Committee of Masjid
Moth Ph-II RWA, write about the condition of the surface of the small
road between our colony and Jahanpanah forest.
IT IS AWFUL full of
potholes uneven surface, the
road being encroached upon by vendors and tribals on one side and
building material shops on the other side. Their material and trucks
bringing this material are a big hazard and embarrassment to the residents.
It is extremely difficult to drive in our cars from this road. RECARPETTING of the road surface and RELOCATING the vendors from this area will be a great help for the residents.

And now Parking Charges from Shops of less than 20 meters also ?
When Govt. / MCD started the Convergence scheme, it was said that Convergence charges are to be paid by all the shops on Mixed land use areas but the PARKING CHARGES are NOT TO BE PAID by the shops of less than 20 meters.
It's quite strange that now Govt. / MCD has ordered to recover the Parking Charges from Shops of less than 20 metres also with retrospective effect from 2007 alongwith Interest.
Just can not understand that how could Govt. / MCD do that, while there is NO CHANGE IN ANY OF THE PARKING FACILITIES IN ANY SUCH AREAS.
Is it just a collection technique to generate more n more funds ?

Inflated bill received from the Delhi Jal Board ?
The inflated bill received from the Delhi Jal Board have disturbed the peace of mind of the retired and senior citizens all over the Union territory of Delhi. We should find out the ways to mend the ways of the working of DJB , who is bent upon in thrusting heavy bills on the residents specially the good paymasters. In fact these bills are causing mental agony, harassment and have shattered the budget of the poor pensioners. It is observed that CM Sheila Dikshsit has fulfilled her view point to upgrade the price of water at par with Bisleri waters. Now it is an election year we all should consider seriously about the past dictatorial behavior of the Delhi Govt.and also the failure of the weak opposition, who failed to take up serious cases affecting the citizens of Delhi. I am giving below the comparative statement of the DJB charges right from 1996 till today for all of you to assess the highhandedness on the part of the Delhi Govt.
Year Reading Charges
1996-1997 405 Rs. 206
2000-01 279 Rs. 431
2003-04 412 Rs. 941
2002-03 332 934
2006-07 386 2933
2007-08 318 2261
2011-12 188 1585
2012-13 284 6525
As we are aware the senior citizens population is around 20%. we should rise to the occasion in raising our voice against the Delhi Govt in deliberatly ignoring our problems and adding fuel to the hike in prices.
Thanking you

Stray dog problem in Shalimar Bagh too !
We too are facing a great problem with increasing numbers of stray dogs in our locality. There are many cases of dog bites, but no body is bothered to hear to the problems of the residents. The Govt. should step up early solution in eradicating the menace of stray dogs.
