Some facts on real CWG expenses.

The Bid in 2003 was made of Rs. 1,899 Crores. But the links of expenses are as below :

The link below shows the expense at Rs. 7907 Crores.
( By Mr Gill, No date mentioned )

The link below shows the expenses at Rs. 10,000 Crores.
( By Mr V K Verma, Director general, CWG, 24th March, 2010 )

The link below shows the expenses at Rs. 11,490 Crores
( By Govt. in Rajya Sabha, 29th July, 2010 )
http://ibnlive.in.com/news/cwg-expenses-stand-at-rs-11490-cr-govt/127785-5-23.html

Rs. 28,000 Crores Games expense sounds like wrong priority : Premji
( i.e. 11,494 crores on CWG & Rs. 16,560 crores on upgrading the Capitals infrastructure - a new airport terminal, wider roads, new flyovers, metro rail extensions etc., 26th August, 2010 )
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Rs-28000cr-Games-expense-sounds-like-wrong-priority-Premji/articleshow/6435358.cms

But whats about the rest of Rs. 30,000 crores as it is being said that expenses have touched Rs. 70,000 Crores Mark. Anyhow, Rs. 11,494 crores on CWG  is definitely on the higher side when compare to the Bid amount of Rs. 1899 crores in 2003. But Rs. 16,560 Crores on the Capitals infrastructure, including New Airport, Roads, Flyovers, Metro extensions, seems worth as Delhites have really got a better infrastructure. Your comments please.

Games and rwas

I understand from our hony.secretary mr.ac.agarwal, that CM has requested rwas to ensure cleanliness. About four year back, our councillor Ramesh pandit had ensured that safai karamchari are reporting to society or rwas. This has been stopped. How do we know four or one karam chari is for MADHUVAN.

Please ensure proper co ordination. Rest will automatically fall in line.

New live guides for tourists to Capital

Bracing up for the Commonwealth Games and eager to provide the large number of tourists expected with easy access to information, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday launched a new website of Delhi Tourism and a new 24-hour Delhi helpline number, (011)1280.

"A milestone"
Describing the twin launch as a milestone, Ms. Dikshit said it was a "proud day for Delhi'' as it had gone online and provided easy phone-based service to reach out to tourists. The new initiatives will make the city more accessible to the visitors, she said.

Delhi ranks as the Number One destination in foreign tourist arrivals in the country as it has a rich history and provides a varied mix of culture, food, greenery and world-class infrastructure. Being a top tourist destination, it was in need of a vital tourist guidance system and the website has sought to do just that.

Access to services
Through www.delhitourism.gov.in the visitors will be able to access a wide variety of services and information. Before setting out for Delhi, they would now be able to download thematic city maps, information brochures and informative videos - all of which would help them plan their trip better.

From giving out information on budget to luxury services, providing hotel bookings to reservations across an exhaustive list of hotels, bed and breakfast establishments and guest houses, the website would enable the tourists to make various transactions and bookings. It would also provide information on tour booking facilities, hop-on-hop-off bus services, airline time-tables, live flight information, currency converter and weather updates.

Commandos To Land At Schools In Case Of Games Emergency

Schools in Delhi will be closed during the Commonwealth Games, but they will still be an integral part of the Security  plan for the city during the period. Highly placed sources said the SWAT teams and commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG) and other agencies will be flown into the school grounds closest to the 13 venues in choppers in the eventuality of a terrorist attack or hostage situation.

"If there is a terrorist intrusion or any other hostage situation, the commandos will be airlifted to the grounds of government and private schools close to the venues. From there, the commandos will walk to the spot so that the terrorists do not see the helicopters," said an officer. He said the schools have been chosen for landing helicopters as they have big playgrounds and premises covered by buildings on all sides, providing the secrecy needed for such operations.

In fact, the Delhi Police has identified schools near the 13 Games venues and Games Village where helicopters can land and has recorded their coordinates. For example, Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, will be used in case of an operation near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where the opening and closing ceremonies will held, said the source.

"Similarly, there is a government school in Shakarpur near the Games Village and one at Kotla village near the Indira Gandhi International Stadium," the source added.

The Delhi Police has close to 60 SWAT commandos while the NSG and Border Security Force (BSF) are also expected to deploy similar numbers. Helicopters of the BSF, Indian Air Force and NSG would be on standby during the Games, added the source.

Sant nagar problems

Sant nagar is sandwiched between east of kailash and nehru place.
I stayed in east of kailash and lappet nagar1v for almost thirty years since 1960 since onward.
It is located on uneven rocky terrain and has very large number of problems.
This colony merits special attention.
Despite boost in property rates, much needs to be done.
Their president or secretary could come for personal discussion and then we could chalk out action plan.
Kindly contact or detail what has been done by way of follow up.
