11.9 years lost due to Air Pollution in Delhi is Shocking indeed !

Dear CM Saab,

The Chart below clearly shows that the main contributors of Air Pollution in Delhi are the Dust Particles & the Transport sector, i.e. vehicular emissions.

As per the Chart below, the VEHICULAR EMISSIONS contribute a significant portion of PM2.5 & PM10, while it's a major contributor of CO, NO2, VOC, SO2, & BC in Delhi.

We just want to ask as below:

1. Out of appx 30000 km of all inclusive road length in Delhi, what % age of roads are cleaned by mechanical sweepers/sprinklers ?

2. A news report said that, Since 1981, vehicles multiplied by 21 times in Delhi, roads only doubled. If that's true, Don't you think, that it resulted in severe congestion & traffic jams all over, causing severe air pollution in our city ?

In 2021, studies showed that the estimated average lifespan lost to pollution was 9.7 years in Delhi. Two years later, it has climbed to 11.9 yearsThis only means that the city is fighting a losing battle against toxic air and the situation is getting worse.

According to the analysis, Delhi's yearly average PM2.5 level in 2021 was found to be 126.5 g/m3, which is more than 25 times the WHO's recommended limit of 5 g/m3. This number was discovered to be a little lower in 2020, at 107 g/m3.

But this is just an Average, while during the peak of winters, when Vehicular Emissions, Dust Particles & Parali Fires club together, we are forced to breath-in, the AQI of 10 times of the above said average, which clearly means upto 250 times of the WHO's recommendations.

A news report published today in various news papers, depicts the grim situation as Air Pollution is now related the Brain Strokes in the youngsters also, though till today, we assumed, it was dangerous for Elderly persons only.

Please revert at the earliest as 11.9 years lost due to Air Pollution in Delhi is Shocking indeed, along with various other respiratory, lungs, & heart complications.

With best regards,

AIR POLLUTION: इस कदर मुश्किल हुआ, जीना मेरे शहर मे, साँस के हर घूँट मे बस, जहर निगलना पड़ता है!

In 2021, studies showed that the estimated average lifespan lost to pollution was 9.7 years in Delhi. Two years later, it has climbed to 11.9 yearsThis only means that the city is fighting a losing battle against toxic air and the situation is getting worse.

RWAs question the City Government & all the concerned Air Pollution Control Agencies of Delhi, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING ?"

Situation is turning worse, day by day & you people are just playing gimmicks with the residents. If you are serious in your efforts, how the estimated average lifespan lost has increased from 9.7 years to 11.9 years in just 2 years, asks B S Vohra, President, East Delhi RWAs Joint Front, A Federation of Resident Welfare Associations.

According to the analysis, Delhi's yearly average PM2.5 level in 2021 was found to be 126.5 g/m3, which is more than 25 times the WHO's recommended limit of 5 g/m3. This number was discovered to be a little lower in 2020, at 107 g/m3.

Just want to drag your attention towards the HT Front Page news in September 2017 - Breath Delhi Air, Die Early, which clearly showed the pollution status of our city, Delhi, The National Capital of India, and even after such a stern warning, the situation is worsening further:

We try our best to raise the issue regularly on every platform, be it Newspapers, TV Channels, or the Social Media, i.e. via our Facebook, Youtube, Twitter & Blog - B S Vohra, Environment Activist

Vohra's video on Air Pollution in November 2017 was widely shared worldwide, by Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Movies, Daily Motion, Telegraph, etc., exhibiting a severe medical emergency in Delhi:

We had even demanded a special fund for Delhi, from the Late Finance Minister of India, to control the Air pollution - B S Vohra, Environment Activist

One of our RWAs meet on Air Pollution issues in Delhi, was held with Ms Anumita Roy Choudhury. A large number of RWAs & Experts participated in this meet along with Local Member of Parliament:

Since last over a decade, we keep filing RTIs on the issues concerning the masses of our city, and one of our RTI was published in Hindustan Times on the Air Pollution issues, long ago in 2013 - 14, when we had organized several Lung Check-up camps also along with CIPLA:

26th January 2019: Honored by Dainik Jagran:
For his role in spreading awareness on environmental issues.

Our Live Chat Show with Dr Gufran Beig, SAFAR:
आखिर कब तक हम लोग इस तरह घुट घुट कर मरते रहेंगे l

But whats the outcome? The situation has worsened even further, as the estimated average lifespan lost has increased from 9.7 years to 11.9 years in just 2 years, in Delhi. Definitely, the concerned agencies are not moving in the right direction, says Vohra.
