EXISTING 220KV RING AROUND DELHI WAS MEANT TO CATER 1000MW POWER and hence need for 400kv transmission llines and substations.
Delhi has been hoodwinked by all. The casual outage is responsible for forced power cuts and unreliable quality of power supply.
DELHI IS CAPITAL OF INVERTORS AND NOISE GENERATING GENERRATORS.
So, we are being told that authorities are helpless to hold price line.

DSCI offers top facilities on a par with private hospitals
At the first look, it does not look like a typical government hospital - filthy, crowded and run-down. With its swanky looks and state-of-the-art facilities, the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI) at Dilshad Garden is an example of the beginning of the change that is happening in government hospitals.

Located inside the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital complex, it has won the hearts of many with its excellent services to all the classes of the society. Prof R K Grover, director and CEO of the hospital, has taken utmost care to maintain the hospital well and show concern for the people.
BS Vohra, a resident of Krishna Nagar, whose father was treated here, said, "My father was detected with cancer and it was in the third stage when we got to know about it. We were running all over the city to find the best hospital with best facilities. Obviously, the private hospitals are very expensive. But when I got to know about this
hospital, it was a surprise for us. It did not charge anything for admission and the facilities were quite satisfactory." The staff and the surroundings of the hospital are welcoming and overwhelming. The hospital is spread over a wide area to accommodate a large number of patients and staff.
The hospital was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on August 26, 2006 in the presence of area councillors, area MLAs and MPs.
Features
The Institute has latest facilities for imaging, laboratories, external radiotherapy, LDR manual brachytherapy and chemotherapy. However, it does not have HDR brachytherapy, surgical facilities, ICU, bone marrow transplant, endoscopy and nuclear medicine facilities.

HDR brachytherapy, surgical facilities, ICU and endoscopy facilities are expected to be commissioned by December this year while the nuclear medicine and bone marrow transplant facilities are expected to commence by June 2012.
There are different rooms for kids and other deluxe rooms for those who can afford to pay and stay in a more luxurious environment.
Gunjan Mehta, a resident of Laxmi Nagar who got her mother treated in this hospital, said, "This hospital is improving day by day. I got my mother operated two years back but now when I come here, I see this hospital getting more and more developed with new machines, techniques and staff." Prof Grover explained his aim for the hospital. "To establish a 'centre of excellence' as a national resource facility in the capital that would provide state-of-the-art diagnostic, early detection and management facilities for patients with various types of cancers. Secondly, to establish and maintain an ultra-modern super specialty hospital to provide comprehensive medical, surgical, interventional and related facilities under one-roof for patients suffering from various types of cancers. These are just minor objectives that we are looking forward to but this hospital is just like my child and I want to develop it by giving it the best facilities in the world. We will strive towards a better future making it the world's cleanest and best government hospital."
The institute has facilities for general and private wards, semi-private wards and deluxe suites depending upon the patient's choice. Facilities in general OPD and general ward are free for all, while in private OPD and wards, the patient will have to pay as per prescribed rates. There is no difference, as far as medical care is concerned, in the treatment of patients, irrespective of their paying capacity.
The institute is in the process of obtaining formal empanelment with various government/ PSU organis-ations such as CGHS, DGHS, ESI, DDA, Railways and medical insurance agencies, etc., for the conven-ience of patients who may be eligible for medical reimbu-rsement.

15 dead, 34 injured in Delhi fire
New Delhi, Nov 21 (IANS) At least 15 people were killed and more than 34 injured in a fire at a congregation of eunuchs at a community park in east Delhi Sunday, fire brigade officials said.
However, Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia, who visited the injured in hospital, put the number of dead at 12, while police said 10 people were killed.
Walia, who visited the Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital where most of the injured were taken, announced compensation for the victims but did not specify the amount.
The minister also ordered a thorough probe into the incident. 'The deputy commissioner (revenue) of east Delhi has been asked to investigate the incident and file his report to the state government at the earliest,' he told reporters.
The first intimation of the fire at the park in Nand Nagri's E2 block, where the three-day Akhil Bhartiya Kinnara Samaj Sarvadharma Mahasammelan started Sunday, was received around 6.50 p.m., a fire brigade official said.
According to officials, the blaze started after a tent caught fire following suspected electrical short-circuit.
As many as 2,000 to 2,500 people were understood to have been present inside the community centre when the tent burst into flames, police said.

School fee panel hits a dead-end
While the issue of school fee hike concerns parents in Delhi very intensely as many cut their personal expenses to keep pace with the ever-increasing demands of the schools, the Delhi Government has been caught napping on the issue of providing adequate infrastructure to a committee constituted by the Delhi High Court for examining the entire issue.
As a consequence, the three-member Committee – chaired by former Chief Justice Anil Dev Singh – has still not been able to start work on determining the fees structure that should be permitted in the private schools.
The matter assumes significance as a large number of parents are looking for relief from constantly increasing fees. The Committee has been told to examine the financial irregularities of the private schools in the Capital which hiked the fee in the past. Further, it also has to power to recommend refund of excess fees in case it found that the fee hike in any school was excessive.
It was on August 12, this year that the Delhi High Court had issued directions to the Delhi Government to constitute a Committee to determine whether the fee hiked effected by private schools in Delhi from January 1, 2006 – on the ground that they had to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations -- was justified or not.
Subsequently, the Delhi Government had issued notification pertaining to the constitution of the Committee.
However, despite three months having passed since the constitution of the panel, the Delhi Government did not deem it necessary to provide it the necessary infrastructure or staff to conduct its work. A member of the Committee toldThe Hinduthat “we had been given a task by the Delhi High Court and the Delhi Government had issued a notification.”
But, he said, the Delhi Government did not provide the infrastructure it should have. Subsequently, the Chairman of the Committee had written to the Registrar of Delhi High Court about the matter.

Panel constituted to examine school fee hike
New Delhi: The Delhi government has constituted a committee after the High Court directed it to examine the accounts of private schools allegedly charging high tuition fees.
"Justice Anil Dev Singh, retired chief justice, Rajasthan High court, will be the chairperson. JS Kochar, charted accountant and RK Sharma, retired additional director of education, will be the other two members," said the government notification issued on Saturday.
The government had on September 9 told a division bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice Siddharth Mridul that it will set up the panel within a week.
Earlier, the bench had directed the setting up of the committee to audit the accounts of each of the schools to ascertain if the hike, effected in 2009, was required.
The bench authorized the committee to scrutinize the accounts of minority schools as well.
"If the committee finds that the hike was not required, the schools are bound to return the money to students with 9 percent interest," the bench had said in a 143-page verdict on August 12.
