MCD May Auction Cars Parked On Roads

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is contemplating auctioning cars of the dealers of old vehicles who park them on public lands outside shops.

The matter was raised by a BJP councillor at a meeting of the standing committee today. Municipal commissioner K.S. Mehra suggested auctioning of the cars seized for being parked on public lands.
"The vehicles which are found parked on roads or public lands outside the shops dealing in second-hand vehicles are towed away by the corporation," said Mehra.

"We release the vehicles after charging a fine and being assured by the shopkeeper that he would not violate the law in future. But now, we are planning to take strict action against such violations," said Mehra.

On an average, each dealer parks 10 to 15 cars on the pavements and service lanes, especially in Lajpat Nagar, Karol Bagh, CR Park, Saket, Shakarpur and Tilak Nagar, causing inconvenience to the residents.

No one killed Jessica dvd picture and reality in life.

Today, i saw above movy on my tv. I cried and cried because i was suddenly transported to 2009 to hearing in DELHI HIGH COURT.
My son in law was killed in road rage case in april 2000. The case was duly reported in news papers and tv channels.
After trial in Tis hazari court, the culprit was SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT.
The accused filed appeal in DELHI HIGH COURT and is still pending for hearing.
But applications for regular bail and temporary bail was heard. A number of times in hearings, bail was rejected.
How ever in last hearing our vakil did not tell date of hearing to me or any member of our family. In fact he told about grant of bail on regular basis only after two months of bail order.
I was totally shattered. The said vakil was an ADDITIONAL JUDGE.
The dvd NO ONE KILLED JESSICA brought me to ground reality.
Through this blog i brought several caases to your kind notice.
BUT MONEY AND MUSCLE POWER CAN BUY EVEN NEWS PAPERS AND ELECTRONIC CHANNELS.
In Madhuvan, a neighbour of mine was getting a tube well bored in 15ft lane . I humbly suggested that he must get it ddone in his plot like others, but he continued and i had to call flying squad.
Why CCTV ARE NOT INSTALED
even on road which starts from POLICE HEAD QUARTER and is known as Vikas Marg.
On important crossings like NIRMAAN VIHAR METRO STATION what is happening can shame any law abiding citizen.
So, dear friends, be prepared to receive threats for being eliminated and brickbats.
But believe me, even such a death would be honourable than being timid and tolerate all injustes.

Just think !!!!! What will happen in Delhi, in case of any natural calamity as the Disaster Management plans are still on paper ?

Disaster management non-starter

Plans On Paper But Capital Not Prepared To Handle Calamity

Rumu Banerjee TNN

New Delhi: Three years after the state government notified the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the city seems prepared to face any emergency. In theory, that is. The draft disaster management plan, which state nodal officer, divisional commissioner (revenue) DM Spolia says has been approved by the Lieutenant-Governor, is an elaborate document complete with specifications of the scope of work that district-level teams would have in an emergency.
The reality is far different. From an acutely slow pace of implementation to the lack of a robust chain of command, the much-vaunted DDMA seems to be floundering even before it gets off the ground.
The facts speak for themselves. Three years after inception, DDMA has no dedicated staff, with the government appointing district project officers and project coordinators as late as January this year. Insiders claim that key positions like that of disaster management experts, monitoring and evaluation officer as well as capacity building officers remain vacant. And though Spolia insists that his officers in the revenue department are “more than adequate”, the fact is that the lack of a dedicated team is taking its toll.

Says Dr Santosh Kumar, an expert from the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), “Abroad, in countries like Japan and the US, a dedicated cadre has been established for disaster response and management.” The immediate impact of a work force that only undertakes disaster management part-time is in implementation, said Dr Kumar.

“Though the state disaster management authority has initiated some community based projects and laid down a framework, much more needs to be done. The disaster management guidelines need to be translated on the ground soon,” adds the expert.

Acase in point is the capacity building of citizens. With Delhi facing fairly high chances of complex emergency situations like the one in Japan, awareness amongst Delhiites about disaster management and how to respond in such a scenario is crucial.

“An aggressive awareness campaign needs to be launched so that citizens get to know how to respond in an emergency. It’s patently lacking at the moment,” adds Dr Kumar. The city, he adds, is especially vulnerable because of the high densification and frail construction. “In Japan, people knew what to do in such a situation, and that saved many lives,” said an official. It’s not just lack of awareness that is lacking in the government’s disaster management planning. While a rudimentary emergency operations centre (EOC) has been established at state and district levels, the absence of staff, training and equipment are sore points. Government officials admit the EOCs are basically a two-man show, especially at the district level. Training is sporadic even as mock drills have become routine features.
“Since the mock drills are planned, everyone knows what needs to be done. Surprise drills are few, if any, so that we have no actual quantification of the level of preparedness,” said an official. The quick response teams, that are the first line of defence in disaster management plan, are yet to be set up in all districts, add sources.

That’s not all. Equipment, which Spolia says is to be provided by the support agency (like PWD or Metro depending on the rescue team), is also an issue. Sources say that the few equipment that have been bought are laying waste in store rooms. “A human detector that was bought two years ago is kept in the store room, as there’s no trained manpower. It was only used once during the Zamrudpur collapse,” added the source.

Krishna Nagar being brought under "Aapsi Rakhwali Yojna"

DCP East Mr Mishra has informed that Krishna Nagar is being brought under the "Aapsi Rakhwali Yojna". All the houses in this locality will be connected by electric bells i.e. every house will have a bell connected in the nearby house and as a result all the houses will be connected with one another.

In case of any emergency, one has to just press the bell and the neighbours will check immediately the reason and on any suspicious movement can call the Police & public immediately. In adition, Machans are to be built at some selected locations with additional patroling on motor bikes covering entire locality. Installation of CCTV cameras is also being considered by the Lal Quarter Traders Association.

Krishna Nagar, The first DLF colony is a biggest retail market in East Delhi. While Lal Quarter has all type of routine shops, Chachi building is well known for woolens. Main Road has all the prominent Banks such as HDFC, ICICI, SBI, PNB, SBI(B&J),UCO, Axis, Bank of Baroda etc. along with many shops of Fridge & TV items. Central park has All the prominent Jewellers on one side & nearby. Mandir marg has become a known place for night wears.

Brace Up For Power Shortage

The approaching summer season may come as a harrowing experience for the people of Delhi with power officials predicting peak power demand to shoot up to 5,100 MW.

Not only this, the discoms have also warned of power cuts due to shortage in the power supply. "Delhi's ever-increasing power demand in range of average 10 per cent increase year on year, especially during summer, has been setting new records, almost every year," said a senior official of the power department.

"As per the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Power Demand Assessment Report, Delhi's power demand is likely to touch 8,729 MW by 2016 up from the peak of 4,720 MW in June 2010. According to estimates, Delhi's power demand this summer is all-set to cross 5,100 MW," he said.
Although the Delhi discoms have made adequate tie-ups, the final supply position will depend to a large extent on the availability of power from new power projects of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) (Chandrapura, Mejia, Koderma and Durgapur, and Maithon), NTPC Jhajjar and Bawana. Most of these plants, were supposed to have been commissioned before the Commonwealth Games. "In fact the DVC power plants were supposed to have been commissioned two-three years ago, but have been getting delayed due to one reason or the other," said the officer.

Re. : Earthquake in Japan .....

Sir,

India and delhite may be safe from killer waves of TSUNAMI  and the earth quake which unfortunate japan had faced. But our worthies of MCD AND DDA are continuously in search of ways and means to give us shock by their acts of defiance of even COMMISSIONER LAND DDA, COMMISSIONER MCD and CHAIRMAN PGC.

Example :

Commissioner land DDA, ordered that no officer below the rank of deputy director  or EXECCUTIVE ENGINEER shall continue joint survey and reach conclusion whether 15ft road of madhuvan behind houses 68 to 77 exists or not.

DDA AND MCD WERE REQUIRED TO BRING CERTIFIED COPIES OF LAYOUT CUM SET BACK PLANS OF MADHUVAN AND PREET VIHAR. None brought any record.

I am constrained to say that they brought MY PERSONAL FILE OF HOUSE NO 78 which has been under dealing in DDA office for conversion from sublease to free hold and my application has been pending since 2008 till date.

I OBJECTED that my personal property case has no connection with this case. BUT MY OBJECTION had no meaning to them. Commissioner had recorded in his order that NON PRODUCTION OF RECORDS SHALL BE REPORTED TO VICE CHAIRMAN DDA AND COMMISSIONER MCD.
Hearing is slated on 14th march 2011 at 11 am in the chamber of chairman PGC IN IP ESTATE. EXCEPT CITY PLUS no press wala has guts to write about this case.

Kindly pray that our more than twenty year old case of restoration of 15 ft road used by residents of MADHUVAN, NIRMAN VIHAR AND PREET VIHAR IS RESTORED BACK FOR PUBLIC USE.

Projects Stuck, Delhi Stares At A Water Crisis

Neither Munak Canal Nor Renuka Dam Will Provide Water This Summer.

The capital is staring at a grim water situation this summer. The city government had been banking heavily on the Munak canal for supply of an additional 80 million gallons per day (MGD) and had hoped that work on Renuka dam would commence, assuring the city of a fixed supply in the coming years. But both projects have got stuck and officials have started advocating water conservation measures.

Delhi has an installed treatment capacity of 755 MGD through eight water treatment plants. An additional 100 MGD is extracted from the ground. "We have a demand of about 1,080 MGD. There is a shortfall of about 250 MGD. We are also expecting the capital's population to grow to 230 lakh in the next 10 years. So far, we have not been able to identify any other alternate source of water. Delhi unfortunately is almost entirely dependant on its neighbours for raw water supply," said a DJB official.

Those working on waterrelated issues in the city say that there is a large population that is not on the DJB's radar at all. These people, mostly living in unauthorized colonies and slums, have to turn to the tanker mafia or survive on groundwater. "Only 27% of Delhi is authorized. If we work out a consumption of 100-300 lpcd (litres per capita per day), the total demand comes to about 1,500 MGD," says Jyoti Sharma of Forum for Organized Resource Conservation and Enhancement.

18% of City Water Unfit For Consumption, 111 Out of 616 Water Samples Not Suitable For Drinking

Every fifth person in Delhi is at the risk of getting water-borne diseases, such as typhoid, cholera, gastroenteritis, jaundice, hepatitis A. The figures say it all.

In December, 2010, the Public Health department of MCD had sent tap water samples supplied by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to be tested in a government lab.

Results of these samples have revealed that 18% of the city's water is contaminated with disease-causing bacteria.

Out of the 616 water samples tested, 111 were found to be unfit for drinking.

Most number of contaminated samples -21 and 18 respectively -were found in the south and central zone, that has areas such as Green Park, Malviya Nagar, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Greater Kailash-I, East of Kailash, CR Park.

"This is a gross health hazard. We keep telling the public to consume tap water. But if this is the quality of drinking water available, how can we prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases," said VK Monga, chairman, Public Health Committee, MCD.

The office boy who became Chief Justice of India

By Anirban Choudhury

I come from a poor family. I started my career as a class IV employee and the only asset I possess is integrity.

CJI Sarosh Homi Kapadia

At a time when the Indian judicial system is mired in controversy, thanks to the likes of KG Balakrishnan and PD Dinakaran, comes a man with the courage and the integrity to say all is not well with the system.

India's 38th chief justice S H Kapadia began his life as an office assistant who ran errands at a law firm. But deep down, he wanted to study law and be a judge.

Homi Kapadia hailed from a lower middle class Parsi family: his father was a clerk and his mother a homemaker. Quality education was a luxury. Which is why, in 1960, he took up a humble job at the law offices of Behramjee Jeejeebhoy.

His colleagues hadn't imagined even in their wildest dreams that he would one day go on to become the chief justice of India.

A co-worker from his early years told The Indian Express, "He was a young boy when he joined us to help senior advocates carry their heavy case briefs. His self-conscious demeanour would force me to wonder at times what he was doing in such a smart law firm".

The young Sarosh first sought to help his father and finance his younger brother's education before embarking on his journey to become a lawyer.

At 27, in 1974, he became counsel for the income tax department. He was appointed additional judge of the Bombay High Court in 1991 and made a permanent judge in 1993. He decided on matters relating to the environment, banking, industries, and taxation. He also presided over the high-profile Ketan Parekh stock scandal case in 1999, and played an important role in the proceedings of the Joint Parliamentary Committee constituted to investigate the scam.

On 5 August 2003 he became the Chief Justice of the Uttaranchal High Court and on December 2003 was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court.

Here, Kapadia delivered some landmark judgments. In one, he ruled against DNA testing in a property dispute case. He was also part of a three-member bench that heard the income tax case of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. The case went in Lalu's favour.

On 12 May 2010, Kapadia was sworn in as the Chief Justice of India by President Pratibha Patil.

Soon after his appointment, Kapadia wrote to retired Justice V R Krishna Iyer, replying to his congratulatory letter, "I come from a poor family. I started my career as a class IV employee and the only asset I possess is integrity. Even as a judge of the Supreme Court, I have used my knowledge of accounts and economics for the welfare of the downtrodden, including tribals and workmen. I hope to fulfill my obligation to the Constitution in the matter of achieving the goal of inclusive growth."

His actions, after he took over, clearly show that he is here to set the judicial house in order.

Kapadia has warned against frivolous public interest litigation (PIL). "Huge costs will be imposed against those filing frivolous PILs," Kapadia said, during a hearing. But the Indian courts are choked with cases filed by frivolous litigants who, for example, want to teach their political and business rivals a lesson. Citizens hope Kapadia will deal with them as firmly.

The Piedpiper and the mice

There is a small storey about a man who could play on a flute like instruments and all the mice shall follow him.
On a certain settled fee, he shall drown all the mice of the city in a river. This was necessary to save the city from dreaded diseases like plague.
Our country and especially DELHI, is infested with rats who are spreading corruption, not solving small small problems like burning of lights in night time in parks.
DESPITE our clamour, there is pitch dark in parks. One our repeated requests, for one day the HIGH MAST LIGHTS WERE BURNING, but alas again we are where we were.
Go to any department say of MCD AND DDA, no file shall move unless you know some one who would accept bribe and pass it on to conerned babu.
So, the service spirited ladies and gentlemen, let us search a pied piper, who would blow on his pipe and all the rishwat khor officers, politicians and babus and TAX EVADERS SHALL BE LEAD TO VARIOUS points along river YAMUNA and one by one shall walk into river and drown.
TV CHANNELS COULD COVER THE PROGRAMME.

LPG Subsidies For BPL Families Soon: Sheila, Govt Wants To Make City Kerosene-Free

Following central subsidies on LPG announced in the recent budget, chief minister Sheila Dikshit announced on Sunday that the state government would be coming out with bank loans and subsidies for poor families in a few days. The scheme, which Dikshit said was in the final stages, would ensure that the city became "kerosene-free".

Dikshit, who was speaking at a health camp organized by the DC (revenue) northeast district and the health department, said the government will replace kerosene oil stoves with LPG and provide further subsidies through banks to families falling in the BPL (below poverty line) category. The idea behind the scheme is to do away with the profiteering and adulteration in kerosene oil rampant in the city. While Dikshit didn't reveal the timeline for the launch of the scheme, the announcement comes in the run-up year to the civic polls scheduled for next year, said political observers.

Posh Areas To Pay More Tax Despite Poor Amenities

The posh colonies in the city may soon have to shell out more money in terms of property tax due to the land appreciation in their respective areas even though as far as civic infrastructure is concerned, they are still lagging behind.

Realising this, a number of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in the city have already submitted their objections to the Delhi government constituted Municipal Valuation Committee.

The committee has recommended upgrading 168 colonies in the city on account of their proximity to the Metro lines and land appreciation that they have witnessed over the years. Presently, the Municipal Valuation Committee is holding several hearing sessions wherein the objections and the suggestions submitted by the residents and others are being heard.

Areas under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are at present divided into categories A to H depending on the infrastructural facilities present there.

In 3 Months, Update Your Voter ID Card From Home

You will soon be able to get the spelling of your name corrected or your residential address changed on the voter's identity card, while sitting in the comfort of your home.

The Delhi election office plans to upgrade its website to allow residents to apply for new voter's identity cards and make corrections in their records without going to the respective election office in their area.

Officials said the new facility will be available in two-three months. "Currently, one can only fill up form number 6 online to get his/her name added to the voter's list," said a senior election officer.

"In two-three months, the voter will be able to fill up form numbers 7, 8 and 8A, which are required to delete the name, make corrections in their name or address and transposition of entry in electoral roll respectively," the officer added.

The only time the applicant will have to visit the election office is to get a photograph clicked. The voter will also be able to scan the necessary documents and upload them on the website.

A Letter To Prime Minister on Service Tax on medical facilities !

FM Said :  Besides, treatment at all air conditioned private hospitals with over 25 beds would be costlier as Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced: "I imposed service tax in 2010-11 on health check ups. This caused differential treatment between persons who pay themselves and others where payments are made by insurance companies or a business entity. I therefore propose to replace it with a tax on all services provided by hospitals with 25 or more beds that have the facility of central air conditioning. Though the tax is on high-end treatment, I sweeten the pill by an abatement of 50 per cent so that the actual burden is kept at 5 per cent of the value of the service." This levy has been extended to all diagnostic services as well.

We are SHOCKED on hearing this clause in the Budget Speech of Finance Minister. For any major illness one has to go to the big hospitals as small hospitals have no such facilities. Just ask an ordinary person that how he / she treats the near & dear ones in these big & private hospitals. One has to sell Jewellery, property or similar investments kept for old age to meet the expenses for the treatment of Heart, Cancer, Kidney transplant etc. , all of which have become so common due to adultured food, water and even air.

HOW GOVT. CAN IMPOSE A SERVICE TAX ON THESE EXPENSES.

We request to the PRIME MINISTER of INDIA to look into this.

Thanks

Criminals are emboldened due to timidity of law abiding population

This blog has high lighted several cases of wilful negligence of police which smacks a collusion with criminals.
Examples...
Near police station in CC OF PREET VIHAR is a big parking place for cars and two wheelers.
There is no rate fixed for commercial vehicles like buses and tempos.
But any time of the day, you could see fleet of tourist buses. WHO IS ALLOWING IT?
From T point of shakarpur starts NAGRAJ MUNI MARG and along this marg are colonies like madhuvan, preet vihar and Nirman Vihar.
The foot paths are blocked by school buses, unauthorised buses and by house owners who constructed benches on government land and sloped foot paths for entry of there vehicles.
I had raised this point in bhagidari and duly recorded in minutes. But despite passage of three years NO ACTION. Our leader VOHRA JI must be knowing this as he a regular in attending such meets.
One of the solutions is to go on meeting on monthly basis POLICE COMMISSIONER.

Law & Order position in Krishna nagar ?

In a shocking incident in Krishna Nagar,  in a daring Dacoity a few days ago, in the broad day light., in the busy Lal quarter Market, a  jeweller, Gaurav Gambhir, owner of Gambhir Jewellers, was shot dead, in his shop.

The incident was so shocking that soon  after, all the markets were closed and the Traders as well Residents joined in the massive protests. Road number 57 was Jammed in the evening itself for half an hour and again  in the next morning, a large number of protesters, blocked the road for over 3 hours. Dr. Harshwardhan ( MLA ), Dr. Monga ( Councillor ), Mr Rajesh Gaud ( Councillor ) also joined  the protests.

As a result, Police was deployed in every part of Krishna nagar with baricades every where. But the next morning revealed that the Locks of atleast Two more shops were broken. A shop in Gandhi nagar was looted. In yet another incident , a day ago,  on Road number 57 at Mandir marg Crossing, glass of a parked car was brokn & a bag full of Important documents was stolen. Even otherwise, chain snatching, Mobile snatching has become a common incident in the area.

Krishna Nagar, The first DLF colony is a biggest retail market in East Delhi. While Lal Quarter has all type of routine shops, Chachi building is well known for woolens. Main Road has all the prominent Banks such as HDFC, ICICI, SBI, PNB, SBI B&J, UCO etc. along with many shops of Fridge & TV items. Central park has All the prominent Jewellers on one side & nearby. Mandir marg has become a known place for night wears.

The area, mostly crowded all the time has no proper security arrangements. No CCTV cameras, no screening of incomers, no proper checking of vehicles, makes it vulnerable. Chain snatching, Purse & Mobile snatching are so common incidents, which dont attract attention of even the residents. Incidents of Bikers removing Gold bangles have also occured here.

The area requires proper security arrangements, with CCTV cameras, with proper screening of incoming persons & vehicles, so that no more of lives and money is lost.  A Check post system in the style of  Darya Ganj market should also be considered. Additional pickets must be deployed at various locations to strengthen the Law & Order position in the Locality immediately. We request to the Delhi Police to take additional precautions & patroling in the nights to safeguard the interests of the residents.

We request to the area MP, MLA & Councillor to look into it very seriously.

Delhi: Now Pay Your Property Tax Till March 31

Seeking to increase its revenue and give an opportunity to tax defaulters, the MCD today extended till March 31 the last date for its two ongoing schemes for settlement of property tax cases.

Chairman of Standing Committee Yogender Chandolia said on public demand, MCD has extended the last date of the scheme for settlement of ex-parte assessments under old system of assessment (rateable value) as well as the unit area method.

The schemes were to be closed yesterday.

"The extension of time period will help the defaulting taxpayers who could not avail of the opportunity so far. The settlement scheme provides waiver of interest and penalty amount, subject to up-to-date payment of property tax. The taxpayers would be required to pay only the actual amount of tax accruable each year," an official said.

Another Ammonia Scare In River, Delhi Again Forced To Curtail Water Production

In a span of just 15 days, Delhi was again forced to curtail water production at the Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants after level of ammonia in raw water went up substantially on Tuesday due to high levels of pollutants. Union minister for environment Jairam Ramesh asked the Central Pollution Control Board to submit a report to him on the issue by Wednesday noon.

"I have asked CPCB to send team for field inspection immediately and report by 12 noon on Wednesday," he told TOI on Tuesday. The minister had written to CMs of Delhi and Haryana last week, asking them to take steps to curtail pollution levels in Yamuna.

According to Delhi Jal Board officials, the level of ammonia in water on Tuesday went up to 1 part per million (PPM) against the permissible 0.6ppm. "At 1pm, we were forced to curtail production by 35% in both plants, which have a combined capacity of 210 million gallons per day. By evening, the situation had improved and levels had come down to 0.7ppm but full production could not be started. We are waiting for ammonium level to decrease further," said a DJB official.

Jeweller shot dead .......................

Dear Mr. Vohra ji,

It is really shocking and shows how life has become so cheap for the thugs etc. There is no safety and security of people and their properties. Rule of law-breakers is widely prevailing and there is no fear of punishment and they are bold enough that they would not caught or nabbed.  This is all due to our low-morality and lack of unity and feeling of oneness. We have become so self-centered and selfish, we hardly bother about our neighbours. No more preachings and fear of God! We have reached or reaching a 'jungle raj'! There is no rule of law and Police, mainly due to acute shortage and guarding the so called VIPs, aam aadmi are suffering and will continue to suffer. You will be shocked to learn that at the innumerable of marriages that take place at the CBT ground near Surajmal Vihar, rampant thefts are taking place and for the last two days in succession jewelries of both brides and bridegrooms have been looted by unknown miscreants! At one place jewels worth a few lakhs have been lost forever and there is no clue! Time is not far of when dacoits will knock at your door and snatch whatever they find with dire consequences.  We have to face it!  What is the remedy? No technological devises will solve the problem. Any solutions! Let the readers suggest remedies to this rampant malady!?

With regards,

TK Balu
Secretary/RBECHS/Anand Vihar

Here even heinous crimes.like murder in crowded market of krishan nagar may not be solved or criminal punished in ten years.

Jeweller shot dead in Krishna Nagar .....

Dear Vohra ji,

It is really shocking even to hear such incidents.  This incident of dacoity has taken place in a crowded market and that to in a day light.  The main question is that the dacoits are so dareing and do not have the fear of whatsoever nature of the police or public.  If such like situation continues to prevail, what will be the future of this country.  Where the law abiding person will be living?  Imagine, if this daring incident has happened in a very old and reputed colony, what will be the fate of new colonies in the NCR.  What the Police is doing?  What for Beat Officers are posted?

I remember, in one of the meetings with the ACP at Geeta Colony Police Station, the representatives of the Krishan Nagar Shopkeepers Association clearly indicated that the intention of Police officials deployed in the market is to mint money rather than providing security to general public or the shopkeepers.  They (Accociation) were against the encroachment on the footpaths by anybody and requested to take stringent action against this violation.  We do not have the system to have a check antecedents of the Rehariwala or Patriwala.  Who knows who is making planning of the Dacoity.  The main question is whether the polcie, politicians etc are sincere to eradicate corruption, encroachment of public land, which is one of the root cause of such incidents?

Regards.

Stop Traffic, Claim Police Won’t Take Action Against Criminals Unless Paid Bribes

Dwaipayan Ghosh | TNN

New Delhi: A day after a 29-yearold jeweller was murdered by four armed assailants inside his shop during a robbery in Krishna Nagar, east Delhi, RWAs and trader associations hit the road, protesting against the police inability to protect them. The traders shut down all shops in the Lal Quarter area for the entire day.

“We blocked traffic on Road 57 (Karkardooma Court-Anand Vihar route) and sought alms from the people so that we can provide the money to the police. Until we grease their palms, they will not protect us,’’ said Sandip Kapoor, secretary of the Krishna Nagar Residents Welfare Association. The RWA claimed they collected Rs 500 by the evening.

As a result of the protest, traffic between Shahdara in northeast Delhi and Anand Vihar in east Delhi came to a standstill for over three-and-a-half hours. The effect was felt on Seelampur approach road and the Karkardooma crossing clogged even as cops diverted vehicles through other roads. Schoolchildren, returning home, suffered worst of the jams and Times City saw at least three school buses stuck on the road.

Locals said there is spurt in crime in the area. “Chain snatchings are a daily affair. Recently, there were three big robberies at Son Bazar, Jheel Kuranji and near Guddu Bakery. The owner of Gambhir Medical was shot at by unidentified assailants inside his shop in Jagatpuri. Khandelwal Medical Store was looted. My house has seen two burglaries in the last seven days. And people tell of a few criminals riding a black Pulsar who have struck four times in the past few days near Cross River Mall in Anand Vihar,” said B S Vohra, president of the east district RWA joint front.

On Thursday, a curfew like situation prevailed inside Krishna Nagar. With cops cracking down on two-wheelers, vendors and even rickshawpullers, Lal Quarters — usually bustling with energy — looked like a ghost town. Over 500 people had gathered outside the Gambhir residence. On Road 57 near Swarn cinema another 250 protestors kept traffic at bay.

A few metres ahead, cops from three police stations — Geeta Colony, Farsh Bazar and Krishna Nagar —kept a close watch. “We are not going to push things. Our investigation has proved that the accused knew their way through the narrow bylanes of Krishna Nagar. We are trying to find out the route taken by the accused. Their modus operandi hints at involvement of a couple of gangs who were active here earlier. We do not want to divulge the details right now,” said DCP (east) O P Mishra.

The police said they were investigating if the beat policing needs a change. “We are mulling ID cards for all outsiders who plan to enter this area. All two-wheelers will be checked and movement of those who have come out of jails recently will be checked. We will advise jewellers to put up CCTV cameras and locks to ensure their safety. Police will meet RWAs and traders associations in the coming days,’’ said Mishra. The probe of Gambhir’s murder case has been handed over to the special staff. Police sources said the SHO of Krishna Nagar might be suspended after being sent to the police lines.

UP IN ARMS: Traffic was badly affected in east Delhi due to the agitation by traders and other residents of Krishna Nagar.

Jeweller Shot Dead in Krishna Nagar

In a shocking incident in Krishna Nagar, a Jeweller was shot dead, last evening, in a daring Dacoity, in the  broad day light. Gaurav Gambhir, owner of Gambhir Jewellers, in the busy Lal quarter Market in Krishna nagar, died after he was shot at Three times. Three persons wearing helmets entered his shop and while escaping with the loot, the dacoits, shot him dead on his resistance.

The incident was so shocking that soon all the markets were closed and the Traders as well Residents joined in the massive protests. Road number 57 was Jammed in the evening itself for half an hour and again today morning, a large number of protesters, blocked the road for over 3 hours. Dr Harshwardhan ( MLA ), Dr. Monga ( Councillor ), Mr Rajesh Gaud ( Councillor ) joined in this protest.

We request to the area MP, MLA & Councillor to look into it very seriously.

ACP Traffic ( East ) : Request Letter

On behalf of ACP Traffic ( East ), TI Mr Tomar visited us again, today. We showed him the Critical points of our Area & handedover a REQUEST LETTER as below for action :

21st  February, 2011

ACP Traffic ( East ),
Laxmi Nagar police Station,
Delhi – 110092

Subject : Our meeting at the DC’s office as well your ROUND of the area on 19th February at 4 pm.

Dear Sir,

We are facing the Traffic Jam problems as below :

  1. On Mandir Marg, F Block at Road number 57, there is acute problem of Traffic jam due to the BIKERS from Inner lane, who intersect in between the Flow of traffic on every Green Light towards road number 57. This not only results into inconvenience to the flow of traffic as well causes chances of accidents & it was OBSERVED BY YOU during your visit of the area.

We REQUEST you to please ENHANCE the DIVIDER upto the end of the Road so that the Bikers could get no way there & the flow of traffic remains smooth.

  1. The Mandir Marg road has a bottleneck in between Vaishay Dharam Shala & Happy school intersection. As a result there is HEAVY TRAFFIC JAM on this stretch during Peak Hours as well at any other time. Ambulances as well Fire Brigade vehicles can offen be viewed in the Jam. The Residents are suffering from Noise as well Air Pollution in addition to the constant Traffic Jams on the road.

We REQUEST you to Instal a Red Light at Happy School Intersection so that the Traffic could be managed properly to solve the problem of Traffic Jam to a greater extent.

We are now LOOKING for the necessary steps in this regard from your side so that RESIDENTS of the Area could get a Sigh of Relief.

Property Tax payment scam !

In the wake of a spate of scams and corruptions at the national level, the capital’s MCD is no exception!

It is shocking to bear and hear that the MCD’S Property Tax office at Geeta Colony had not maintained any records of the payments made by law-abiding citizens for over a period of ten years, albeit the people concerned have  made payment of the tax due regularly and always well in advance and fortunately kept a record of such receipts issued by the MCD Property Tax office itself!

It is seen from their records that no entries of the payments made have been entered in their ‘official registers’, so far on the pretext of ‘shortage of staff’ over a period of time and consequently those who have made the payments have been directed ‘officially’ to produce the original receipts and make available the photocopies of the same to them, so that they could now make necessary entries in the registers!  Can you, by any stretch of imagination in this 21st century of e-governance, which we wish to implement, the records in the MCD’s Property Tax Office are still being maintained manually and that too had not been done for the last over 10 years!!

This Society (Anand Vihar) had protested against this state of affairs for not fault of their law-abiding citizens, who always make payment of dues to the Govt., whether electricity/water/gas/phone bills etc. periodically, so that their connections are not arbitrarily cut by such agencies and make payment of the property tax, as well, annually much before the target date fixed by the Govt.

For this purpose this Society had been arranging ‘collection camp’ annually for the last over 5 years in our Society’s premises by getting the officials of the Property Tax office, arrange to collect the duly filled-in forms from all residents and make them available to the officials concerned at the spot for which receipts are also given on the spot.  The money-starved MCD gets at one spot and on one day over Rs.10 lakhs towards property tax payment! In addition the visiting officials are ‘looked after well’ too! Despite all these efforts made by our Society, the MCD Property Tax office at Geeta Colony had not kept any record and made necessary entries towards payments on their official registers!!

It is strange and shocking for the ‘inaction’ of the babus in the Property Tax Office, the senior citizens and others in our colony have been made to suffer on this account who had been asked to produce the old receipts immediately!!! Can you imagine the amount of time, energy and mental torture faced by the residents!  Is there no remedy? Why aam aadmi should face all these onslaughts for such a callous and irresponsible action of the babus! Will the officials of the Property Tax office of the MCD reply to this scandal and scam? We don’t expect or hope unless and until some high-ups at the helm of affairs intervene in and set the matters right before the commencement of the ensuing financial year which is only a month ahead!
