Amar Ujala 25 March 2020

Tracking the #coronavirus !

WHO has declared it as Pandemic. Our Indian Govt has treated it as the Notified disaster and has imposed the Essential Commodities Act on certain essential items, such as Masks and Sanitizers. Schools and Cinema halls are shut in many parts of our country and in some areas, even the shopping malls have been closed as the precautionary measures. All the official meetings, conferences, foreign trips, and even the IPL have been canceled fearing the virus spread. Taj Mahal Closed, Juhu Chaupati beach closed, as we are now said to be at the second stage of the spread of #coronavirus in India.

Global trends of #coronavirus:
Global trends are shocking as the epicenter has been shifted from #Wuhan in China to #Italy #UK France in Europe. Many towns and cities have been locked down worldwide, under the threat of coronavirus. France has deployed one lakh of its Police personals to ensure the complete Lockdown. The confirmed cases have today crossed the mark of 2,00,000 and 8,000 deaths. Really Sad & Shocking. Scores are under treatment or quarantined in various hospitals all over the world. The #coronavirus is now affecting 162 countries and territories around the world. The detailed current figures are being reproduced below while we ourselves have over 153 confirmed cases in India, with 3 deaths.

Celebrities in the Grip of #coronavirus:
Even some of the top-notch personalities are in the grip of this Pandemic now. Sophie Trudeau, the wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, tests positive for coronavirus and the Prime Minister himself has gone under self-quarantine. American President Trump who came in contact with a contractor of coronavirus, has been tested negative. Iran's Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and two of her ministers are struck by this virus. Health Minister of the UK, Nadine Dorries also tested Positive. Hollywood Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson has been diagnosed with coronavirus. Even the Japan emperor's 60th Birthday was overshadowed with the coronavirus fears. Spanish football coach Francisco Garcia passed away at the age of just 21 due to #coronavirus. Bollywood Actor Dilip Kumar (97) has gone under self-quarantine amid the #coronavirus outbreak.

Shocking statements on #coronavirus:
1. As the coronavirus spreads, one Australian study predicts that even the best-case scenario is 15 million dead and a $2.4 trillion hit to global GDP.

2. Thank God coronavirus didn't start in India: British economist Jim O'Neil. In an apparent jibe at India's governance system, the former Goldman Sachs chief economist said, "Thank God this didn't start in somewhere like India because there's no way that the quality of Indian governance could move to react in the way that the Chinese have done, that's the good side of the Chinese model, and I think you could probably say the same about Brazil also."

3. There was also a Shocking viral video on social media ( don't know real or fake) showing a Chinese man in the United States, claiming in an interview that 60% of the global population could get the virus. Screenshots of the vid:

 4. Yet another video on an Indian TV channel in September 2019, (i.e. almost 2 months before the arrival of coronavirus) had shown something similar to the coronavirus, as below. I just can't understand what was the source of this lead.

5. It was much more shocking when I found this pic on social media.

6. It was shocking when I viewed a Tweet dated 3rd June 2013, saying, Corona Virus... it's coming. Just can't understand how he got the idea of this virus, seven years ago?

Treatment of #coronavirus:
1. So far it's being said that there is no treatment of #coronavirus. But an era of hope has come into the light. An Australian researcher has claimed that two existing drugs could 'cure' COVID-19 after patients they tested responded 'very well' to treatment.

2. Moreover, the United States of America has just done the 'Phase 1 Clinical Trial' of the #coronavirus vaccine. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) allowed the new vaccine to be fast-tracked into clinical trials without thorough testing in animal models, which usually stands as a strict prerequisite to human testing, but it may still take between 12 to 18 months before any vaccine is ready for the public use.

3. China has also claimed that a cure has been developed & the mass production of it has been started. But don't know how long this medicine - FAVIPIRAVIR - will actually take to reach the market.

Therefore, Precaution is the only option available now to remain safe from #coronavirus: While Tracking the #coronavirus, the only visible and available option to remain safe, at present is to take all the Precautions.  In India, we use to say - Precautions are always better than the cure. No doubt, it's true and therefore, we must start taking all the precautions with immediate effect to remain safe from the virus. Stop Handshake, Wash your hands at regular intervals for 20 seconds, and keep a safe distance are some of the best options to remain safe from this virus. Please note down the helpline number at New Delhi for any issues, information, and clarifications: 0091-11-23978046.

We can very well understand that Masks are not essential if we can keep a safe distance. But just can't understand how it can be possible in Delhi with a population of over 2.5 crores and that too while moving in a Jam-packed Delhi Metro or a DTC bus during the peak office hours, and that too in the circumstances, while there is a panic being the Pandemic all over & already confirmed as the Notified disaster?

We hereby request to our Government that please provide us, above items on the shelf of our local chemist shop or at the local Mohalla clinic, at the affordable prices, so that in case there is any kind of emergency, i.e. the 3rd Stage of the spread of #coronavirus, or even a basic Flu, we could buy a mask and a sanitizer, easily,  for our mental satisfaction.

Thanks a lot to various sources for the information, pics, vids, screenshots used for the awareness of masses in this most polluted & populated city of the world.

Pandemic in the City - Shortage of Masks, Sanitizers - Jam-packed Delhi Metro

13th March 2020

Kind Attn.  : Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, CM, Delhi

Dear Sir,

The entire world is in the grip of Corona Virus Pandemic & there is an acute shortage of N 95 Masks as well as the Sanitizers in Delhi. May I request you to please arrange to provide these Essential Commodities to the residents of Delhi via the Mohalla Clinics at affordable prices, so that many precious lives could be saved.

The Delhi government must order that all the masks, sanitizers, and related medicines must be sold on No profit no loss basis as its a state of Emergency due to the pandemic all over.

All the Hospitals, including the private ones, must provide free treatment to anyone with the symptoms related to the coronavirus as none can be allowed to earn or make profits out of an emergency, instead, it must be treated as CSR.

Mohalla Clinics must be used to provide basic & timely treatment to all the Flu-like conditions as well as for locating the specific coronavirus cases to stop its spread.

Moreover, wish to draw your attention towards the Jam-packed conditions in the Delhi Metro, during office hours. The distance between any two passengers is mostly less than an inch and can be very dangerous in spreading the Pandemic in Delhi.

Please look into the above issues with the utmost urgency as the situation in our city may worsen in the coming days.

With best regards,
