Sanitation strike continues in East Delhi

National Organ Donation Awareness Program

We are organizing National  Organ Donation Awareness Program  on the occasion of Indian Organ Donation Day under aegis of NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization ), under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, in association with Safdarjang Hospital and VMMC, North Zone Urology Society of India ,Udai India Knowledge Tree and Delhi Medical Association, on 22 October at Constitutional club of India,Mabalankar Auditorium, New Delhi. Timing- 9am - 12 noon.

This is the initiative of North Zone Urology Society of India(NZ-USI) to create awareness among general population along with capacity building measures to strengthen organ transplant program in India, in collaboration with NOTTO.

A huge gap exists between the patients who need organ transplants and the availability of potential donors in our country. Average life expectancy of India's population is increasing and problems like diabetes, one of the main causes of kidney failure, are expected to rise, creating greater demand for organ donations. There is an urgent need to promote organ donation and dispel the myths and misconceptions that surround organ donation.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has implemented Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994 which was subsequently amended in 2011. The purpose of the act is to develop a system of Organ Transplantation for therapeutic purposes and to prevent commercial dealings in Organs. 

This program will spread awareness about deceased Organ Donation and will dispel the myths and misconceptions regarding Organ Donation. This program also envisages to review the current status of Organ Donation and Transplantation and felicitate Organ Donors & their families. We have invited Dharam Gurus of all religions to spread the noble message of Organ Donation in general population.

Around 800-1000  people representing all sections of society will participate in this event.

Many eminent persons are coming - Swami Ram Dev, Swami Chidanand Saraswati(Parmarth Niketan), Ajmer-e-sharif  Dargah Chief, Shri Prem Ji Goyal (Senior RSS leader), Shri Shyam Jaju( National Vice President BJP) Union Minister of state of Health and Family Welfare , Smt Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of  State of Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju, Shri Manoj Tiwari ( Delhi BJP president).

We request you to join this program and spread this information among your members to attend this program to create awareness about organ donation in case of brain death and to know more from Dharam gurus about organ donation.

NEW DELHI: The strike by sanitation workers was called off partially on Wednesday after a meeting between union leaders and the deliberative wing of the three municipal corporations in the evening.

Standing committee chairman of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Tilak Raj Kataria, said, "We met the union leaders and assured them of fulfilling their demands. A high-level committee comprising members and officials from north and east corporations will be formed to find a solution to the demands of safari karamcharis."

However, Sanjay Gahlot, president of MCD Swachhta Karamchari Union, said that they are in no mood to back out even though a few unions have called off their strike. "We will be on strike till our demands are met," he added. Around 11,000 workers of the total 60,000 have decided not to call off their strike.

Earlier, a group of safai karamcharis had protested outside the office of Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari at Yamuna Vihar due to non-payment of arrears and regularisation of employment.

"We also burnt Tiwari's effigy for making false promises to us. He had told us that once BJP wins the civic elections, they will ensure that all safai karamcharis are regularised and their arrears are cleared. But now no one is coming to help us," said Gahlot.

With workers being on strike for days, east Delhi areas have been the worst affected with garbage remaining dumped on the roads. The areas include Geeta Colony, Krishna Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Pandav Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Shakarpur. When residents tried to get the mess cleared by a private labourer, the agitating safai karamcharis blocked their efforts.

"Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal should intervene in the sanitation crisis and provide a solution," said BS Vohra, president of RWA Federation of East Delhi.

As informed earlier, today we met EDMC Mayor & she is saying that they have paid the salary up to September 2017, Paying Bonus, Agreed for CashLess & sent for approval, BUT DON'T HAVE Rs. 2000 CRORES TO PAY THE ARREARS. 

Does it mean that residents of East Delhi will have to face this striking Sanitation menace permanently?  Can we meet you to understand your point of view on this very serious issue?

EDMC workers go on indefinite strike over non-payment of dues, people suffer

New Delhi [India], October 12 (ANI): The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) sanitation workers went on an indefinite strike on Thursday over non-payment of dues.

The workers held protests against EDMC Mayor Neema Bhagat, outside her office in Delhi's Geeta Colony.

The protestors shouted slogans against the Delhi Government and the Centre. They also made an effigy of Mayor Bhagat, and took turns to blow kicks at it.

Meanwhile, the strike has caused inconvenience to the public, which complained of heaps of garbage lying at various spots in the city.

"We are facing a lot of problems due to the garbage; cases of Chikungunya and Dengue are on the rise. Workers don't come to clean, and neither drains nor the roads are getting cleaned. There are heaps of garbage at so many spots," Delhi resident Vijay Kumar told ANI.

"The problem has been continuing for two-three years now. There is always a strike for one or the other reason. We completely sympathize with the sanitation workers, but we'll also question our elected government, the mayor, and the MPs. What are they doing while the people are living in such unhygienic conditions?" said another resident, B.S. Vohra. (ANI)

बस अब और नहीं, पूर्वी दिल्ली का बहुत कचरा हो गया

पूर्वी दिल्ली मे सफाई करंचारियों की एक बार फिर से हड़ताल. सड़कों से कचरा उठना बंद. जगह जगह कचरे के ढेर लगने शुरू. ढलाओं मे भी कचरा भरना शुरू. फिर से वो ही गंद और बदबू का आलम. 

आख़िर चल क्या रहा है? कौन ज़िम्मेदार है इन हड़तालों के लिए, जो कि पिछले कुछ सालों से लगातार होने लगी हैं? क्यों सरकारी एजेन्सीस इन हड़तालों को रोकने मे नाकाम हो रही हैं? क्यों सफाई करंचारियों को उनके पैसे नही मिलते?

क्यों लोगों की तकलीफ़ों का हल नही निकलता? क्यों लोगों को इस कचरा राजनीति के चलते, खुद कचरा होना पड़ता है?  क्यों ये सब कुछ सिर्फ़ पूर्वी दिल्ली मे ही होता है? क्यों हमे इस सड़े बदबूदार कचरे के साथ जीने को मजबूर होना पड़ता है?

किधर हैं हमारे वो नेता, जो चुनावों से पहले तो बड़े बड़े वादे करते हैं, बड़े बड़े दावे करते हैं, और जीतने के बाद, सिर्फ़ दोषारोपण करते हैं? कब तक उनकी नाकामियों की सज़ा लोगों को भुगतनी पड़ेगी?

बस अब और नहीं, बहुत कचरा हो गया. अब इस कचरे को सहना मुश्किल है. अब इस कचरे मे जीना मुश्किल है. अब इस कचरे मे साँस लेना मुश्किल है. अब उन नेताओं को सहना मुश्किल है जो सिर्फ़ कचरा करते हैं.

दोस्तो आवाज़ उठाओ. अपने चुने हुए नेताओं को सोती नींद से जगाओ. उनको बताओ कि हम अभी जिंदा हैं. और जिंदा इंसान कुछ भी बर्दाश्त कर सकता है, लेकिन धोका नहीं, अन्याय नहीं. बस अब और नहीं, पूर्वी दिल्ली का बहुत कचरा हो गया.
