Dr.Man Mohan Kaur :WHY I WILL NEVER LEAVE VIKASPURI

Dr.Manmohan Kaur has been residing in Vikaspuri since 1981. After more than three decades of association, Kaur has developed an affinity with the colony. But there are other reasons why she loves the area, like good facilities and a friendly neighbourhood.

The Best thing about this area, according to Man Mohan Kaur,is the ample green space and large parks.

“In the early 1980s the colony was a quite place with very few vehicles on the roads. Gradually the colony got busy and the amenities improved,“ says she.
Man Mohan Kaur is the principal of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College, Dev Nagar, and her husband, BS Katyal, is a doctor who practises in Vikaspuri. She feels that the approach to her colony has improved over the years and the recent government plan of constructing more flyovers on Outer Ring Road will only improve things further.

The best thing about this area, according to Kaur, is the ample green space and huge parks. She loves going for morning or evening walks in these parks. “There are also enough markets where we get everything that we need.
Besides, there are big markets nearby such as Rajouri Garden main market, Janakpuri District Centre and Jwalaheri market,“ says she. Kaur loves the numerous eating out options in and around the colony.

Another plus that she talks about are the good medical facilities. But she surely wants some things to improve. The narrow internal roads are a problem so proper planning is needed. But she avers that a close-knit bond that the people in the area share more than makes up for the issues that they find challenging.

“A friendly outlook that people have here is the most valuable thing about the area. People here are not stiff and obsessed about their privacy, like in south Delhi. They have a fellow feeling and have a good community life."

DELHI - Come Out and Vote

Dear Friends,

Was it the Chicken or the Egg that came first ...... similarly was it the Voter who stopped voting or the Political parties stared fielding the wrong candidates. On introspection it seems, it was the antipathy of the posh colony Voter in not casting the vote that made Parties choose candidates that could woe the gullible voters with money and muscle.

Was it that the Voters of Delhi's plotted colonies increasingly got disillusioned at the choice of candidates of political parties or was it one more off day for a family outing in a stressed out professional world. Its time we the people made a course correction ...... Political parties respect numbers and if we want them to listen to us again then WE MUST FIRST SHOW UP AT THE POLLING BOOTH.

DELHI - Come Out and Vote ....... is the clarion call of the RWAs from all over Delhi to the voters of Delhi .... our voter awareness campaign kicks off on 25th March 10am to 11am at India Gate. Many other Social Groups and NGOs have assured participation.

Flavour of Art Foundation has promised to bring top artists to Paint a Giant 70 feet Banner, also paint on the spot posters to spread the message. They have also prepared songs and street play to encourage the voter to come out and vote. Shield (NGO) will be bringing children with a song on there lips ..... Please vote for our Future. The Delhi Heritage Photography Group and The Delhi Drummers Circle and others will be their to liven up the campaign. These groups will congragate at India Gate from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.

A decision to kickstart this awareness campaign was taken after several RWA meetings at various places in Delhi.

Warm Regards,

Rajiv Kakria

What a Budget by Respected Sh Pranav Da !

Yeah ! what a budget by Respected Sh Pranav Da. Income Tax exemption limit rose by just Rs. 20,000 i.e. appx. 10%. Whereas the expectation was that it will reach atleast Rs. 3 lakh plus. On the other hand Power Tariff rose by 22% + 5% and another hike of 20 - 40% is nearby. Whereas the expectation was that it will go down.

Sone pe Suhaga, Pranav Da raised the Service tax & Excise Duty by 2%. Now enjoy the Price Rise in each & every thing you wanna buy as well each & every service you wanna enjoy. Thanks to Respected Sh Pranav Da.

Pranav Da said in his speeh, that, " Life of the Finance Minister is not easy". May i ask from him, that, why the life of the citizens is being made, harder & harder, day by day ?

Please Vote & Vote for a person who has signed the pledge

My Pledge to the voters of my ward :
First Citizen of the Ward
I am standing as a candidate in the upcoming MCD 2012 elections to be conducted in April, 2012. If elected I will seek to serve you as the first citizen of your ward. I realize that you the voters think of me as your elected representative for matters that I do not control directly. I will try my best to address all issues that are hurting the ward to the best of my ability.

3-5 MeTRO’s
Within 100 days of being elected I will build a team of voluntary advisors from all sections of my ward who will serve as my cabinet and together with them we will publish an annual plan with 3-5 MeTRO’s (Measurable Time bound Real Outcomes). We will work on other things as well but I will publish a monthly report by the 7th of following month giving the status of the MeTRO’s at the end of the month.

Corruption Prevention & Performance Incentives
Reducing corruption in my ward will be a major priority for me. Just as malaria cannot be eradicated without prevention, corruption cannot be eliminated without prevention. With my advisory team we will publish our corruption reduction and performance incentive plan within 180 days of being elected and I will provide monthly updates on progress. To monitor spending on major projects I will appoint resident monitors who will look at projects from tendering to completion and publish reports on the web for all to see.

Acting as an Enabler & Involving youth
I feel all of us in the ward must have bank accounts and be literate. I will work out a plan with banks and educators to make this happen. I also want zero open defecation and malnutrition in my ward. A plan will be prepared in 180 days and you will get monthly progress reports. I will form a youth army within 180 days of being elected to independently measure MeTRO’s and to act as volunteers for social projects. These youth will get social work certificates.

Under promise over Deliver
I will not make empty promises like others make that everyone will have a job, house, water, electricity and good roads. You have been hearing these for years. I will work on all these but with very clear specific plans which will be in my MeTRO’s. I am not a magician and I cannot promise you miracles but I will listen and focus on innovation, fast and good execution.

50% + Thumbs down
If elected I will be at your service and live up to the trust you have reposed in me. I will not be addicted to my chair. If someone sets up a good robust system to measure the number of voters in my ward who are giving me thumbs down for bad performance and that number exceeds 50% I will resign.

Pledge Enforcement
I recognize that many may think that enforcing this pledge may be difficult but I think the youth of the country are powerful enough to find creative ways of enforcing this pledge.

Lose or Win I will Serve
My objective is to serve the ward so if the person who wins has signed a similar pledge then I will serve as an advisor if I get 500 or more votes. If I win I will take on as advisors all my opponents who got 500 or more votes.

Please Vote & Vote for a person who has signed the pledge
I hope to convince you I am the best and earn your vote. If you do not vote for me please do vote but vote for an opponent who has signed the pledge.

Discoms jumped the gun on revised electricity tariff

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has written to each of the three discoms, asking them to 'refund or adjust' the fuel surcharge that they levied on many consumers even before the effective date

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has written to each of the three discoms, asking them to 'refund or adjust' the fuel surcharge that they levied on many consumers even before the effective date

The Capital's private discoms are again in the news for all the wrong reasons. This time they have been pulled up for levying a surcharge even before the February 1 deadline.

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has written to each of the three discoms, asking them to 'refund or adjust' the fuel surcharge that they levied on many consumers even before the effective date.

Officially, such a fluctuating, quarterly fee came into effect in the state's electricity system for the first time from this February. The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has written to each of the three discoms, asking them to 'refund or adjust' the fuel surcharge that they levied on many consumers even before the effective date For this period, the surcharge fixed by the DERC is five per cent of the per unit price.

The fluctuating fuel price adjustment surcharge was allowed by the commission as a relief measure to the private discoms who claimed losses on account of the increase in international fuel charges. DERC chairperson P.D. Sudhakar acknowledged that the commission had received complaints where the companies had levied this surcharge before February 1.
