The spirit behind 'New Delhi'

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has in her tenure lifted the capital of India from despondency and put it on the path to development.

Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit is the mascot of the Congress Party's development plank. Her squeaky-clean image has helped and her work speaks for itself. "I do not have to say it but pollution control, flyovers, schools, hospitals and the transport system — everything says that people seek improvement. We have delivered."

Her track record in dealing with the capital's problems has gained her admirers. From cleaning up Delhi's air and switching to compressed natural gas (CNG) to being perceived as a force behind the Delhi Metro and introducing the Bhagidari Scheme to ensure citizens' participation in governance, she has done well for herself.

Dubbed by Delhiites as Aunty No 1, Dikshit cannot stop smiling. Still basking in the glory of the thunderous applause she received at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010, she says: "I felt a sense of relief and joy when the games got off to a rocking start and ended with the same panache."

One could sense that Dikshit had her fingers crossed before the games. Asked then if she would be taking a holiday after the event, the three-time chief minister of Delhi had cheekily remarked: "Yes, I certainly will. I will go into a cave!"

But she didn't have to. Her grandmotherly smile, humility and honesty helped Dikshit sail through the rough and tumble ways the city readied and showcased itself in the nick of time.

All these years, in the thick and thin of politics, she focused on development. Coupled with good governance, she has been able to rule efficiently, despite having to face not just the opposition but also detractors within her party.

"For 12 years now, Delhi and I share a mutual admiration. Together, we have seen difficult times and fulfilled aspirations. My commitment to the city has translated into what it is today," she says.

specially about the unathorized colonies.

Dear Mr. Vohra ji & other officials of RWA in Delhi,

We cast our votes for MLA, MP, even Nigam Parshads. They won election and hold their offices well or unwell, it depends upon their ability. they become authorized. Residents of these colonies are authorized to vote & elect t them and make candidates authorize, but  it is very very peculiar that  these colonies are still said to be unathorized.

In my opninion, it is not justice with these colonies to call unathorized colonies. Because Democracy is of the government for the government and by the government. We should send a request jointly from all rwas officials from Delhi Govt. regarding the above subject matter.

poor condition of drain along paryatan vihar appt, triveni appt.. in vasundhra enclave, east delhi.

This is to bring it to the notice of the concerned authorities that the drain along the stretch from paryatan vihar appt to prayag appt is in the worst of its shape, and needs immediate attention as its adding up to the woes of residents living in the flats facing this drain.

The drains aren’t covered, the cement slabs have collapsed and the flow is also stagnant, this has made it impossible to even open the windows of the respective flats.the stench is so strong, that even walking next to it is a nightmare.the sewer stench, which has h2s gas as its main effluent, damages our acs,as a result we now have to fill the gas 3 times a year.as such the gazipur drain was a big menace, this drain has further aggrevated  the situation.

What I demand is the authorities need to immediately take up this matter,as this drain has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.even fogging doesn’t help.now ,what had been done as a remedy for the other drains in vasundhara enclave, that is covering them up with cement slabs, needs to be immediately taken up.

I request the rwa bhagidari to take up this issue, and provide a prompt solution.

Thanks in anticipation.
