Rwas and elected councillors or others

Frustated the social worker feels that besides repeated reminders or letters nothing gets done. Sir, I want to share my thoughts on this subject. A labour union worker in 1993, confronted me with a similar problem. You as a chief engineer desu are not solving our problems. While explaining about my busy schedule, I suddenly remembered my failures as PRESIDENT of east of kailash RWA. Then a solution flashed across my mind. We started a monthly meeting with our area councillor CH?NARAIN SINGH and MLC SH?VP SINGH . They would come with officers of MCD and review what transpired in last meeting.

Similar experiment we are now trying in our MADHUVAN. Sh.vohra ji kindly attended meeting wherein our MADHUVAN RWA PRESIDENT AND HONY SECRETARY besides me were present. The problems of madhuvan were brought to the notice of our area councillor SH?RAVI PRAKASH SHARMA who was chairman shahadara south zone. We propose to hold such meetings every month. Similar meetings could be considered by our joint front to take up common problems of constituents. It will be also necessary to share our progress on items discussed in first MC meeting at my place.

Half of Commonwealth Games volunteers disappear with kit

NEW DELHI: The spirit of the Games doesn't seem to be prevailing. Seen to be an essential ingredient of the Games, volunteers have gone missing. An estimated 10,000 volunteers have dropped out after enrolling for the mega sports show.

The volunteers have displayed less than expected zest for the Games due to what is seen as a combination of reasons ranging from random allocation of responsibilities, relatively unglamorous assignments and poor training and motivation.

A part of the problem also seems to have been the terms offered to volunteers. Instead of payments, the experience of participating in the Games with a certificate at the end of the event are the main rewards. However, there is also a smart set of clothes - the kit costs Rs 12,000 - besides meals while at work.

While these terms are the norm at most such events, the thrill and experience of the job and an opportunity to watch top athletes being the big hook, the attrition rate of volunteers has been rather high. Beset with controversies, the Games have perhaps not proved too attractive for many who signed up.

Sources said the missing volunteers have gone away with their uniforms that might have been what they found to be of interest. Perhaps, they should have been paid a daily allowance at least. Some of the work is quite tough and requires good communication skills, said an official who confirmed mass desertions.

The situation has led to private parties having to step up their participation. "We are doing all that has been asked of us," said Abhijit Sarkar, spokesperson of Sahara group. Many of the volunteers at the airport and Village are from the group.

CWG

Dear friends,
I totally endorse the views of the Mrs. Ranju Minhas. Forget the past and let's concentrate the present and do a wonderful job with more glory and medals than the past ever. Everyone has to contribute for this including those who are sitting at home and watching TV They could encourage our sportspersons through the media which will boost up their morale to do their best for the 'glory and honour of our country'!

Dear Friends,

I fully agree with Ms./Mr. Ranju Minhas. It's our own media like Star News,NDTV,Aaj Tak,Zee News etc., etc., so called the watch dogs of the country have blown up the issue like mad people. Actually it seems they were getting no worth while news hence, they have caught on to one subject i.e., CWG. Day after day they would catch hold of one or other news concerning CWG and keep on repeating it every half an hour and glorify the short comings happening in CWG instead of focusing on more important issues taking place in the country. They should watch BBC, CNN, ABC. NBC and learn from them how to report news of the country & the world. Just a couple of days ago I was watching an interview of Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyer by so called one of the important TV journalist of this country Mr. Deepak Chaurasia of Star News and he was just trying to put some words or sentences in the mouth of Mr. Aiyer so that he makes a commitment or puts a blame on one of the members of CWGF but instead Mr. Aiyer just blew him apart. I don't understand what all these jounalists think about themselves. I have noticed that except one journalist i.e., Mr. Prannoy Roy of NDTV no other journalist barring few is capable of doing any reporting. Now wait and watch, the Babri Masjid judgement is expected to take place tommorow, so since tomorrow early morning all news channels will focus towards it through it.

1,00,000 Crores & 30 years for Delhite's to bear : CWG

An NGO has informed that Common Wealth Games spendings will touch almost Rs.1,00,000 crores  & the Delhite's will have to bear the cost for over 25 to 30 years by way of Taxes etc. Indeed what a show.  Can't understand that a country which has over 50% of its population below the poverty line & majority of them earning in just three figures per month, spendings of almost One Lakh Crores on the name of CWG is justified ?

Dear Friends,

Its not only the foreign media, our own media was no better.Wish they could give a balanced report on the preprations.Lot of good work has also been done our airport has emerged as one of the best in the world,Heathrow airport comes nowhere near it,this is the first hand report of people who have travelled recently to so called developed countries Media all over the world was just focussing on the lapses,as for corruption that is our internal matter.Looks like these countries just cannot digest developing countries progressing by leaps and bounds our IT industry is already giving them sleepless nights.

Its a lesson to our govt as the agencies failed to put up a coordinated front, wish they could give finishing touches earlier and avoided all the controversies .Like Milkha Singh pointed out that as a player he has seen worst conditions abroad ,so friends let us move on and give some credit for the good work done for CWG games ,the explanations by Kalmadi and co can be dealt with later once the games are over.

Also Queens baton should be called Commonwealth baton.

CWG

Dear Mr. Vohra ji,

There are, according to me having been associated with the organization of 'mega events' like Asiad-82; World Railway Games, World Badminton, World Table Tennis, Asian Athletics etc. held in India, most of them in Delhi, a few unanswered questions. They are -

1. How did you allow the media to enter the Village without proper permission when they are not ready? Who is the responsible official who took them around? Pin him down. Was he bribed a few chips to take snaps of these minor/isolated places!

2. How our own media tarnished the image of our own country - like CNN-IBN; Times Now, Headlines Today, NDTV etc. in their dispatches little realising the implications and impact? Are they not patriotic and anti-nationals. Freedom of media does not mean unfettere freedom. What the I&B Ministry did to gag them up?  Why they did not show the magnicient work done in stadia, training grounds etc. which were all prepared to this august event? It is a pity that none of the media projected the 'positive things' done at huge cost! Should they not be punished?

3. What the officials at the helm of affairs organizing the CWG were doing without looking into the records relating to the organization of Asiad-82 under the Chairpersonship Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi ably assisted by S. Buta Singh and Shri Arun Singh, ex- Works & Housing and Defence Ministers at the Centre! It is unfortunate that none of the Asiad-82 officials have even remotely associated with Asiad82 find a berth in the Organization of the CWG. I could speak with authority that I was perhaps the first one to apply to the Organizing Committee with my bio-data to extend my service as a full time official in any capacity/area of work, having acquired rich experience right from scratch when the basic work of the Asiad-82 was started. You will be shocking to know till date I have not received a call! I have also volunteered to assist the CWG organizing committee and undergone training for the purpose at the Amity University and got the ID card and uniform etc. due to my passion for organization of the Games, but here too, I have not received a call so far, when hardly a week left. I have reminded them too. Added I have worked with Shri Kalmadi when he was the Hon'ble Railway Minister, as his only railway knowledgeable OSD but still I had not been called.  In 18 months we did erect the stadia, made all requisite arrangements for stay, food, transport, conduct of the Games etc. at the then 'world class level' earning the kudos of all nations in the Asian continent besides the IOC who conferred the "Order of Gold", the highest honour of the IOC on our then Hon'ble P.M.,Smt. Indira Gandhi for the magicient success of the Asian Games-82! Of course, I got the President of India's award "Asiad Jyoti" for the same.

Of course, when so many top notches are not coming we will fetch 'record number of medals' of which we could take pride in a way, but at what cost - Rs.70,000 crores with which we could run sports promotion in the entire country right from village to State Hqs. levels for the next 15-20 years and prove ourselves better than China in shaping 'world beaters' over this period of time.

Of course, we are all short of memory and we will all forget what had happened and not happened for conducting the CWG and come back to square one with the same sort of officials at the helm of affairs to run sports in our country. It is high time that all such officials in the IOA and NSF should resign en masse having brought a 'bad name' to our prestigious country!

I am sorry that whenver anybody talks ill about our country my blood boils and heart beat increases due to these tardy and despicable affairs created by these so called 'sports administrators'

With best regards,
