Well begin is half done

Historic moment is arriving at 4pm on sunday 29th august at A 78 madhuvan.
We have to decide periodicity of monthly meetings.
We have to decide subscription, and about framing of constitution,getting edjf registered,preparation of list of founder members and completion of phone book of all members of MC.
First meeting will be a longish affair.
Perhaps we could prepare resolutions on above in advance so that each item is introduced and decided in reasonable time.
To popularize our front, we must start writing our edjf post when we write posts.

Who has let down delhites

Saying is that unity is strength. No use crying our elected representatives are not listening. The truth is we lack courage of conviction and will to toil till problem is solved.
The east delhi joint front is a hope which can take us forward. It is high time that organisational issues are sorted out in first meeting. Hope vohra ji would be organsing first meeting on this sunday.
To give ample time to members, vohra ji may kindly consider issue of meeting notice today itself.
The delay in making east delhi joint front will dishearten the rwas who are members of front.

LG, MPs, BJP let Delhi down

The way things are unfolding, every Delhiite is getting greatly disappointed by those who are in charge of the affairs of this historic city. Every day begins as a nightmare and office goers will testify that it takes upto two hours to reach their destinations. The same story gets repeated in the evening and there is just no let up so far as traffic jams go. It is easy to put the blame on the doorstep of the police and accuse the force of failing to regulate smooth traffic flow.

However, what can the police do if the roads have sunk or if there are huge potholes on every stretch. In addition, the water logging makes things even more difficult and needless to say the driving skills or lack of these of motorists and motorcyclists make things even worse. The Delhi government and its allied agencies have completely failed the citizens. The Congress and the BJP take pride in accusing each other but the truth is that every Delhiite is suffering and no one is listening. These mega projects have contributed in making this city so ugly that one wonders what will those who come for the Commonwealth Games see when they reach India’s capital.

As someone who was born and grew up here, I just cannot recall when the plight of the city and its citizens was worse than what it is today. Unchecked corruption and sub standard work has put us in a very embarrassing position on the eve of an international event. For the last two years, I have raised my deep concerns over the ability of those entrusted with the job of sprucing up the city but all warnings have fallen on deaf ears. No one seems to listen or let us put it this way that no one cares.

I am astonished why the Lt. Governor of the city who is the overall boss is keeping quiet. His passiveness is being interpreted as his lack of concern and many in the political circles are even saying that he is scared of the elected government in the city. I do not think that is true but it is for him to show some action. His detractors also believe that he has deliberately kept silent since he knows that there are a lot of financial irregularities. Being a typical bureaucrat, he is happy that his name is not figuring anywhere. But that is not the way, Mr Tejinder Khanna. You must take charge and save this city. You must visit sites and pull up officials like many of your worthy predecessors. The buck stops at you and there is no argument about that. You head the DDA and every agency of the government comes under your charge. You are the representative of the Centre and also the Administrator of the National Capital Territory. You cannot absolve yourself from anything.

Secondly, there are 10 MPs including seven from Lok Sabha who represent the capital in Parliament. What are they doing about the city and the constituencies they represent? Why are they quiet? Do they not have any accountability to the people? Do they know that people have taken note of their passive stance and will give their verdict at an appropriate time? They must take up the issue at party fora and with their colleagues in the government. The mess in the city is a very poor reflection on all the MPs as well as it is on the Delhi government.

Third, when will the BJP stop being the ‘B’ team of the government? If one goes by the proceedings of the Delhi Assembly, the Saffron brigade has completely lost it. It has no leader either within the Assembly or outside it whose heart bleeds for this city anymore. Does the party not realize that it will fail to be an alternative to the Congress, at least in Delhi if it does not put its act together? The BSP is waiting in the wings and if Mayawati puts up good candidates and campaigns extensively, she can make a dent in at least five of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies. It is bad news both for the Congress and the BJP.

Finally, the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit must rise to the occasion and save the city, which has elected her three times. She should free herself from the shackles of the bureaucracy and vested interests and take some firm steps to resuscitate the capital we all love. It has to be done before it is too late. The guilty must be punished and brought to book. This should also be construed as an appeal from an agitated and concerned citizen.

Priydarshini vihar residents insecurity

Dear Mr. Vohra ji,

I totally agree with the views expressed by the Priyadarshini Vihar RWA. It is the main responsibility of the Police to ensure safety and security of people at large and in residential colonies. The RWAs are, in fact, spending money on security, which the main responsibility of the Delhi Police, as I had reiterated earlier a number of times, and wasting their huge chunk of money on this specific aspect which could be utilised for better and developmental-oriented purposes! The MCD had issued 'guidelines' which we normally observe. If one man objects to putting up the gate at a particular place which is essential for security, let that fellow shift to some posh place and social boycot should be enforced by all others! It is reiterated that the security and safety of people is the vital and main responsibility of the Police and if they cannot enforce it due to various reasons e.g. inadequate force etc. let them compensate the RWAs for providing security of the colony so that we could take care of our internal security. Let's spread this message to all and let's get together on this vital issue which is of concern of all and of paramount importance!

Various speakers on the launch of East Delhi Joint Front

Drawing competition 2010

Drawing competition 2010 was organised in Krishna nagar on 22.8.2010 at Raghunath Mandir with the theme of Price rise ( Mehngai ). It was presided by Mr Sandeep Kapoor. Over 1500 students from different schools of the area participated in the competition and over 900 drawings were accepted for competition. Dr Hardhvardhan - MLA, Dr. Monga - area councillor as well representatives of various RWA's & Market associations visited on the occassion. The Prize distribution ceremony will be held on 5th september.

PRIYADARSHINI VIHAR RESIDENTS FEEL INSECURE

Dear Sir,

The incidents of crimes are not stopping in Priyadarshini Vihar since the removal of the iron security gatesin the colony, by the MCD on 28th January 2009. At least 20 cases of robbery, thefts, chain snatchings have been reported and FIRs registered. The latest being (i) chain snatching of a NRI lady guest of one of our residents in A-Block on 24th July 2010 where two gun shots were also fired; (ii) chain snatched of a lady in front of A-Block, when an auto driver tried to stop the bikers, they fired at him and escaped; (iii) an attempt to snatch chain of a lady by a masked biker in A-Block on 8th August; and (iv) robbers broke in a house in A-Block early after noon on 22nd August and escaped with goods worth several lakhs of rupees. MCD removed the iron security gates because the area Police did not provide a NOC required under its guidelines.

Para 3(f) of the MCD guidelines states that "the RWA shall ensure that there is consensus among the residents regarding putting up of any gates so as to avoid disputes". All our gates conform to the MCD guidelines, and 99.9% of the residents have signed in favour of iron security gates for the security and safety of their lives and properties. Onlyone resident has objection to erection of security gates.

The Delhi Police has also issued S.O. No.382/2009 laying down guidelines for erection of gates for security purposes, which says " the RWAs shall ensure that there is total consensus............." It looks very obvious that the Police issued the above S.O. under some pressure, otherwise why should the Police issue guidelines for erection of gates when it is the responsibility of the MCD. In a democracy there can never be a "total consensus". Even in Parliament Bills and Acts are passed with majority votes.

Delhi Police which is the guardian of the security and safety of the citizens of Delhi, should not play with the security and safety of the entire colony, including over 250 senior citizens, some of whom live alone, just for the sake of one single resident. Through this Blog, we sincerely request HE. the Lt. Governor of Delhi to kindly intervene and pass suitable direction to the Delhi Police in this regard.
