The
residents of sector A and D 1-4 thought that, when road widening started in
December 2012 that they are going to smooth paved road with greenery.
They
are a sadly mistaken lot. The work on either side of road started with vigour
with side of the road dug up of malba
etc ,then 3/5 feet ditches for drains. This damaged the BSES Cables , Mtnl
cables, and also Jal Board Valves. The agencies concerned are blaming each
other and expecting others to set it right.
With
matter stuck on squabbles on greening, widening width with varying lobby groups
yesterday rain /storm gave the residents of these pockets (all of them below
road level) a taste of what is to come in monsoon which is not far away.
As
it is the digs have caused endless jams aggravating the jams that occur regularly. If
the status quo continues the situation would only get worsened if URGENT steps
are not taken to restart and restore the roads, drains and cables. The dug out
are causing accidents to vulnerable two wheelers and those few cyclists braving
the situation. The DJB says the broken valves will require custom casting so
can be done only when road/widening alignment is finalised. Due to which a
beautiful project of reusing treated waste water for horticulture purposes is
distance dream. We get assurances from LG, CM, PWD and forest officials but no
work on ground. We may be forced to seek judicial intervention, if it
continues. What will happen to greening of road which was planned by PWD by
planting samplings during monsoon?
