#Omicron - Let's hope it remains Mild & Vaccination works.

The situation is Grim & in the Next few days, we will be facing the severity of Omicron in our city. In the absence of sufficient health facilities, Govt has no other option but to close everything. Strange, they did nothing after the 2nd wave in the month of April, May & today on our entry in the new year, we are nowhere so far as the Medical facilities are concerned.

#Delta and #Omicron are now twin threats driving up cases to record numbers, leading to spikes in hospitalization and deaths,” Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s director-general, said at a news conference in Geneva.

A total of 512,553 new cases and 1,762 new deaths were reported across the USA on Monday. Over the past week, nearly 1,660,000 new cases and over 10,000 new deaths were added to the tally, according to Johns Hopkins University.

WHO chief warns #Omicron, Delta forming ‘tsunami’ of COVID cases: Surging COVID-19 cases could put ‘immense pressure on exhausted health workers and health systems’, Tedros says.

Be prepared for almost everything that we faced in April this year, as the Tsunami of cases amidst over 2-3 Crores of Population will lead to a TABAHI again. Let's hope it remains Mild & Vaccination works.

#Omicron Variant of #Coronavirus is now spreading all over the world !

During the week 20-26 December, following a gradual increase since October, the global number of new COVID-19 cases increased by 11% as compared to the previous week; while the number of new deaths remained similar to the numbers reported during the previous week. This corresponds to just under 5 million new cases and over 44 000 new deaths. As of 26 December, over 278 million cases and just under 5.4 million deaths have been reported globally.

The highest numbers of new cases were reported from the United States of America (1 185 653 new cases; 34% increase), the United Kingdom (611 864 new cases; 20% increase), France (504 642 new cases; 41% increase); Italy (257 579 new cases; 62% increase) and Germany (197 845 new cases; 30% decrease).

In spite of the best medical facilities, in the Last 7 days, Europe got 28,42,375 new cases, with 23,900 deaths. Similarly, in the last 7 days, America got 14,76,724 new cases, with 12,782 deaths.

Just think of our own country, India, where we don't have sufficient medical facilities. A day before, our PM announced that we have arranged almost 5 Lakh Oxygen beds & 1.40 Lakh ICU beds, which look nowhere, in case we get the Community spread of #Omicron variant of #coronavirus which is much more infectious comparing the earlier variant during the 2nd wave.

Similarly, the National Capital with over 2 Crore official Population ( though much higher in reality), has only 1,382 Ventilators & in case, even 1% of the infections require it, we may end our journey at some mortuary, as its being said that Delhi may get up to 1 lakh cases a day, during its peak.

Therefore, we have no other option, but to wear a Mask, keep maintaining Social Distancing, Get Vaccinated, if not yet, and leave the rest to the God Almighty.

CM Saab - Are We really prepared? #Omicron #coronavirus #COVID19

Dear CM Saab,

We listened to every word of your Press Conference, last evening, over the preparations for the #OMICRON in Delhi. We are really pleased to note that:

1. Delhi now has 30,000 Oxygen beds that include 10,000 ICUs
2. 6800 ICUs are under construction.
3. 270 wards x 100 = 27,000 Oxygen beds can be arranged in 2 weeks' time if required.
4. The Total capacity can be enhanced to 63,800 Oxygen Beds including 16,800 ICUs.

Hope you have viewed our Video shared on Twitter, raising certain very important issues. We are sorry, we have got no reply to most of the points raised by us.

Anyhow, Our Doubts/ Questions are as below:
1. How many Ventilators do we have for the 16,800 ICUs?
2. How many ECMO machines do we have for the 16,800 ICUs?
3. Do you think, the 750 MT Oxygen Capacity at various hospitals + 121 MT local production is enough to meet the challenges of 36,800 Oxygen beds, including 16,800 ICUs, 24x7 at various hospitals of Delhi?
4. Do you think that the Bottling capacity of 1500 Private + 1400 being procured, by Delhi Govt., is enough to provide Oxygen to 36,800 + 27,000 Oxygen beds in Delhi, in case of an Emergency?
5. Do you think the 6,000 spare cylinders are enough to provide Oxygen to 27,000 Oxygen beds in various Municipal wards of Delhi, in case of any severe Emergency?
6. Do you think a buffer stock of 2 months requirement of medicines will be enough to serve 63,800 patients every day?
7. Have you developed any mechanism to check the Black marketing of Medicines, Oxygen & other essential commodities/services, in case of an emergency situation?
8. Have you ordered any limits on the Tariff structure of Private hospitals, which just bill everything at inflated prices?
9. Have you formed any Control room to look into the timely supplies all over, i.e. Medicines, Doctors, Nursing Staff, Ambulances, etc., to reduce the casualties?
10. Have you negotiated with Insurance Companies for low-priced Mediclaim to serve Delhiites during #COVID19 #OMICRON?
11. If Delhi Government Hospitals are well equipped now, can we expect that our leaders if infected, will get the Treatment at Delhi Government Hospitals only & won't move to any of the Private Hospitals?

Can just hope that you will revert.

With best regards,

B S Vohra
President,

Do you think the crackers ban is a solution to pollution in Delhi ?

Please comment on the YouTube video as well on this blog post in the comments section.

Pollution levels at 8.30 AM today morning in Delhi NCR !

Pollution levels last night in Delhi NCR !

Crackdown in Capital on crackers as AQI stays in red zone !

B S Vohra, president of the East Delhi RWA Joint Front — an umbrella body of resident welfare groups — said that the police and other agencies need to build awareness among residents. “Change has to be behavioral; if that doesn’t happen then these bans won’t be successful. Along with penalizing, the police needs to work on sensitizing people and tell them the impact of cracker-bursting,” he said.

HT - Crackers Ban in Delhi?

Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) also agreed that the sale and purchase of firecrackers were happening discreetly in their areas.

“The sale and purchase are definitely happening, but these bans should not be imposed because ultimately the religious sentiments of people are involved. What the government can do is educate people about the impact of bursting firecrackers and how it adversely affects our health. Ultimately, we are all dying breathing this polluted air. Once that awareness comes, people will stop bursting crackers themselves,” said BS Vohra, president of East Delhi RWAs Joint Front.

MPD2041 Public Hearing - Open letter to Hon'ble LG & CM for a meeting !

30th October 2021

Respected LG Saab,

Respected CM Saab,

May we request you to please call a meeting with the RWA Federations, Market Associations & the Activists of the city, to listen to the Suggestions / Objections over the MPD2041.

By the Grace of God, Covid Antibodies have been found in 97% of Delhi residents & such a meeting can now be called to discuss the outcome & achievements of MPD2021 as well the Expectations from MPD2041, though still under COVID protocol.

We are sorry to say that even on the completion of the MPD2021 time period, the Yamuna river still gets 70% of pollutants from Delhi. 45% of the untreated sewage still enters Yamuna & 47% of the potable drinking water is still lost by theft or leakages.

We are the most Polluted Capital, ranking high on Noise Pollution, & with no check on the number of vehicles to check vehicular pollution. We have no suitable Parking facilities & no check on Encroachments & Unauthorised constructions.

The 2nd wave of COVID19 clearly exhibited the status of health facilities in the city, while the kids & the grown-up kids are unable to get a seat in Nursery & DU, easily.

There are so many issues to be discussed such as Pollution, Housing, Drainage, Sewage, Waterlogging, Drinking water, Mobile Tower Radiation, Mixed Land Use, Transport, Mobility, Solid Waste, Garbage Mountains, Power infrastructure, Pedestrian safety, Right to way, Seismic vulnerability, Night Economy, E-waste, Right to speak as well as the Right to be heard.

Willing to stand together with Delhi Government & Administration for making a better Delhi by the end of 2041. Please give us time for a meeting to discuss all the issues. Please revert at the earliest.

Participants ‘unhappy’ with online hearing on MPD-2041

‘Not invited’

Some members of residents welfare associations (RWAs) said they were not invited to the hearing “despite multiple requests”. B.S. Vohra, president of East Delhi RWA, said while he had “managed to attend” the previous hearing on October 25, he received no communication for Wednesday’s meeting. “I had also reached out to the DDA on Twitter in order to attend the meeting, and I was assured that it will be resolved soon, but nothing happened. They (DDA) know that we have good points to raise and maybe they don’t want to discuss the issues with us. Even in the previous meeting, I was given only two minutes to speak,” he said, adding that he had also sent a “detailed email” to the DDA authorities in which he had mentioned his points.

Rajiv Kakria, the convener of the Save Our City campaign, said he was not invited to the hearings despite several requests and objected to the process being conducted online. “It should be a physical hearing. Save Our City is a collective of RWAs, NGOs, and activists with 175 signatories. We have clearly mentioned that each signatory must be invited. There has been no communication from the DDA despite acknowledging that they have read my petitions.”

Any one got the invite of DDA to participate in the Public hearing?

We got no link, no email, no SMS, from @official_dda for participation in the so-called Public hearing on #mpd2041. Even otherwise, it was of no use as 1500 persons can't even say a sentence in 60 minutes.

If anyone got this great opportunity, please let us know about your experience.

EDMC to levy waste penalty

BS Vohra, president of, East Delhi RWAs Federation, said imposing a penalty is just not right. “The civic body is ready to levy fines on people without even holding a discussion with the residents. They first need to provide adequate services. When there is waterlogging in the streets and potholes, there is no penalty imposed on the civic body for inconveniencing residents,” said Vohra.

Intense 3-hour rain spell brings Delhi to a grinding halt yet again - HT

Resident groups said the city’s situation during sharp spells of rain highlighted the apathy of the city’s civic agencies.

“IIT-Delhi submitted its final report on the city’s Drainage Master Plan in 2018. Why has the implementation process not started even after three years? This could have saved the residents from these regular waterlogging woes,” said BS Vohra, president of Federation of East Delhi RWAs.

Can you wait for a few years to get rid of waterlogging in Delhi?

Our question is that how long it will take to manage the drainage system of Delhi, 8 साल तो हो गए, अभी और कितने साल इसी तरह से डूबना उतरना पडेगा?

Is there any responsibility of Delhi Govt or Civic Agencies to save the city from waterlogging?

2nd September 2021

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,
Government of NCT of Delhi,
Raj Niwas Marg, Rajpur Road,
Delhi

Subject: Is there any responsibility of Delhi Govt or Civic Agencies to save the city from waterlogging?

Dear Sir,

The situation has worsened year after year as with every drop of rain, Delhi now gets waterlogged all over. Just name the area & you will get the viral videos of knee-deep water, be it Chanakya Puri, Sadar Bazar, Vikas Marg, Rajouri Garden, Greater Kailash, Naraina Vihar, or Krishna Nagar.

Shockingly, even the flyovers convert into rivers & turn into waterfalls, making it horrible for those driving in deep waters, as well as those facing the brunt of such dangerous waterfalls.

So one thing is clear that no proper desilting is being done by our Civic Agencies & PWD. Even the drains on the Flyovers remain clogged & none cares. What is the use of multiple agencies, if none of them is answerable to the public for all the mess, all over the city?

Therefore, we hereby request & demand a single agency to look after all the waterlogging & drainage issues of our city, so that, none gets a chance to escape. All the multiple agencies must immediately be brought under a single banner to save the city from unnecessary blame game tactics.

Please look into it as people are now fed up with the junk system that is unable to perform.

With best regards,

Oxygen must be arranged in the New Design of Mohalla Clinics at Delhi.

31st August 2021

Mr Arvind Kejriwal, CM, Delhi

Dear Sir,

Please refer to our Tweet today regarding the New Design of Mohalla Clinics in Delhi.

These new porta mohalla clinics must have the facility to provide oxygen to multiple patients at a time, in case Delhi gets the 3rd wave of Coronavirus.

The pipeline can be affixed in such a manner so that many patients could sit on chairs, Outside as well as Inside to breathe in the required Oxygen.

Please note we are really worried if we go back to view the impact of the 2nd Corona wave in Delhi.

Highest August rain since 2007 sends Delhi reeling under water

TIMES OF INDIA: NEW DELHI: “Where should the common man go to make themselves heard? When will we finally get relief from this severe waterlogging? Is there any agency that is answerable to the public or is a blame game their only strategy?” groaned B S Vohra, head of East Delhi RWAs Joint Front. Like him, frustrated Delhiites took to social media on Saturday to raise a collective sigh of resignation over the failure of the civic agencies in making the city floodproof. LINK
