#Omicron - Let's hope it remains Mild & Vaccination works.

The situation is Grim & in the Next few days, we will be facing the severity of Omicron in our city. In the absence of sufficient health facilities, Govt has no other option but to close everything. Strange, they did nothing after the 2nd wave in the month of April, May & today on our entry in the new year, we are nowhere so far as the Medical facilities are concerned.

#Delta and #Omicron are now twin threats driving up cases to record numbers, leading to spikes in hospitalization and deaths,” Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s director-general, said at a news conference in Geneva.

A total of 512,553 new cases and 1,762 new deaths were reported across the USA on Monday. Over the past week, nearly 1,660,000 new cases and over 10,000 new deaths were added to the tally, according to Johns Hopkins University.

WHO chief warns #Omicron, Delta forming ‘tsunami’ of COVID cases: Surging COVID-19 cases could put ‘immense pressure on exhausted health workers and health systems’, Tedros says.

Be prepared for almost everything that we faced in April this year, as the Tsunami of cases amidst over 2-3 Crores of Population will lead to a TABAHI again. Let's hope it remains Mild & Vaccination works.

#Omicron Variant of #Coronavirus is now spreading all over the world !

During the week 20-26 December, following a gradual increase since October, the global number of new COVID-19 cases increased by 11% as compared to the previous week; while the number of new deaths remained similar to the numbers reported during the previous week. This corresponds to just under 5 million new cases and over 44 000 new deaths. As of 26 December, over 278 million cases and just under 5.4 million deaths have been reported globally.

The highest numbers of new cases were reported from the United States of America (1 185 653 new cases; 34% increase), the United Kingdom (611 864 new cases; 20% increase), France (504 642 new cases; 41% increase); Italy (257 579 new cases; 62% increase) and Germany (197 845 new cases; 30% decrease).

In spite of the best medical facilities, in the Last 7 days, Europe got 28,42,375 new cases, with 23,900 deaths. Similarly, in the last 7 days, America got 14,76,724 new cases, with 12,782 deaths.

Just think of our own country, India, where we don't have sufficient medical facilities. A day before, our PM announced that we have arranged almost 5 Lakh Oxygen beds & 1.40 Lakh ICU beds, which look nowhere, in case we get the Community spread of #Omicron variant of #coronavirus which is much more infectious comparing the earlier variant during the 2nd wave.

Similarly, the National Capital with over 2 Crore official Population ( though much higher in reality), has only 1,382 Ventilators & in case, even 1% of the infections require it, we may end our journey at some mortuary, as its being said that Delhi may get up to 1 lakh cases a day, during its peak.

Therefore, we have no other option, but to wear a Mask, keep maintaining Social Distancing, Get Vaccinated, if not yet, and leave the rest to the God Almighty.

CM Saab - Are We really prepared? #Omicron #coronavirus #COVID19

Dear CM Saab,

We listened to every word of your Press Conference, last evening, over the preparations for the #OMICRON in Delhi. We are really pleased to note that:

1. Delhi now has 30,000 Oxygen beds that include 10,000 ICUs
2. 6800 ICUs are under construction.
3. 270 wards x 100 = 27,000 Oxygen beds can be arranged in 2 weeks' time if required.
4. The Total capacity can be enhanced to 63,800 Oxygen Beds including 16,800 ICUs.

Hope you have viewed our Video shared on Twitter, raising certain very important issues. We are sorry, we have got no reply to most of the points raised by us.

Anyhow, Our Doubts/ Questions are as below:
1. How many Ventilators do we have for the 16,800 ICUs?
2. How many ECMO machines do we have for the 16,800 ICUs?
3. Do you think, the 750 MT Oxygen Capacity at various hospitals + 121 MT local production is enough to meet the challenges of 36,800 Oxygen beds, including 16,800 ICUs, 24x7 at various hospitals of Delhi?
4. Do you think that the Bottling capacity of 1500 Private + 1400 being procured, by Delhi Govt., is enough to provide Oxygen to 36,800 + 27,000 Oxygen beds in Delhi, in case of an Emergency?
5. Do you think the 6,000 spare cylinders are enough to provide Oxygen to 27,000 Oxygen beds in various Municipal wards of Delhi, in case of any severe Emergency?
6. Do you think a buffer stock of 2 months requirement of medicines will be enough to serve 63,800 patients every day?
7. Have you developed any mechanism to check the Black marketing of Medicines, Oxygen & other essential commodities/services, in case of an emergency situation?
8. Have you ordered any limits on the Tariff structure of Private hospitals, which just bill everything at inflated prices?
9. Have you formed any Control room to look into the timely supplies all over, i.e. Medicines, Doctors, Nursing Staff, Ambulances, etc., to reduce the casualties?
10. Have you negotiated with Insurance Companies for low-priced Mediclaim to serve Delhiites during #COVID19 #OMICRON?
11. If Delhi Government Hospitals are well equipped now, can we expect that our leaders if infected, will get the Treatment at Delhi Government Hospitals only & won't move to any of the Private Hospitals?

Can just hope that you will revert.

With best regards,
