In Delhi’s pollution season, potholes are adding to the pain

In Delhi’s pollution season, potholes are adding to the pain

BS Vohra, who heads the East Delhi RWA joint front, said several stretches in east Delhi are in bad shape and agencies should focus on improving road infrastructure before the pollution season rather than focusing on challaning citizens. “If a small construction site for a house is operational, hefty fines are issued under air pollution control norms. Agencies should also be fined for their failure to maintain roads. We have roads like east Delhi’s road number 57, stretches near Krishna Nagar to Azad Nagar, which are riddled with potholes. Who will hold the agencies accountable?” he asked.

Sanitation solution will drive MCD polls

BS Vohra, who heads the East Delhi RWA Joint Front, said that the overall civic infrastructure has deteriorated which has led to damaged colony roads and annual waterlogging, and a time-bound accountability mechanism needs to be formed by both parties.

MCD Polls: Broken Roads, Waterlogging, Garbage Mismanagement Among Key Issues

B S Vohra, president of east Delhi RWA said the civic body needs to focus mainly on the civic infrastructure in the eastern part of the union territory. He said due to improper drainage systems, residents face waterlogging issues during the rainy season. Pothole-riddled roads add to this problem.

Mere 800 recharge pits in Delhi

15th June 2022

Dear Arvind Kejriwal Ji,

In spite of the severe waterlogging every season, Delhi remains thirsty & even its lifeline, the river Yamuna goes dry.

Even the groundwater levels in many parts of our city have gone downwards and shockingly, even the DJB has to use bore water at some places to quench the thirst of Delhiites.

In such a situation, Mere 800 recharge pits in Delhi

We require multiple pits / Rain Water Harvesting systems in every Park, Govt School, hospital, and office, to conserve the monsoon water to save Delhi.

Please connect with RWAs to join in this mission to save our city. Delhi Government has enough funds to spend on RWH & Water Bodies, to conserve precious water.

With Best Regards,

B S Vohra

President, East Delhi RWAs Joint Front

Convenor, RWA Bhagidari

Do you have the passion and dedication to play a positive role in improving crime control and security in your area?

Greetings from the Indian Police Foundation (IPF)!

The IPF Online Volunteer Scheme is a platform to build partnerships between citizens and the police.  IPF Volunteers will help in promoting community engagement, trust, and harmony among citizens, spreading awareness about how policing touches the lives of every citizen and why good policing is essential for India’s internal security and economic development.

Our Police Forces perform a crucial role in protecting the lives and property of citizens, controlling crime, and maintaining societal peace which is considered essential for India’s internal security and democracy. This is an opportunity for students, youth, RWAs, and citizens in general, to participate in voluntary work for a public cause: to be an IPF Online Volunteer to conduct the annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey on the quality of policing in your area. MCD Trifurcation - Cash crunch at EDMC - East Delhi suffered badly !

In 2011, the Sheila Dikshit government moved a proposal to divide the MCD into three separate bodies, arguing that it will improve overall efficiency. In November 2011, the Union home ministry cleared the proposal.

The Delhi government convened a special assembly session and passed the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill in December 2011. Then-President Pratibha Patil cleared it in the same month.

The final notification for the trifurcation was issued in January 2012, carving North, South, and East Delhi Municipal Corporations with 104 wards given to the first two and 64 to the third respectively.

We knew that EDMC will face a severe cash crunch & we opposed the proposal from day one.

And we faced the Strike by the Sanitation workers in East Delhi. In fact, there were multiple strikes & residents faced garbage all over.

We can just hope that the Unification of MCD will improve the overall situation of the areas under EDMC, which has so many issues such as Air - Pollution, Waterlogging, Parking, Traffic jam, Encroachment, Right to walk, etc.

Middle Class ( taken fom the Face Book of Mr Anil Sood with thanks)

It's better to give them better treatment, instead of compensation after the death.

We just can't use the term COMORBIDITIES as an excuse. Deaths are increasing in Delhi, and specialist Doctors must be deployed to look into the severity of cases. Every life is precious for their loved ones and can not be considered as numbers by the authorities. It's better to give them better treatment, instead of compensation after the death.

ARE WE ONLY 20 MN PEOPLE IN OUR DELHI & NOT MUCH MORE?

That's a great achievement BUT only 12mn got 2 jabs + 4.5 mn got 1 jab AND STILL AT RISK, ( 12 + 4.5 = 16.5 mn), while the rest of 3.5 mn without a jab, though children also getting infected now. BUT ARE WE ONLY 20 MN IN OUR DELHI or much more is the biggest question now?

Delhi CM & many other local leaders have got corona !

Delhi CM Mr. Arvind Kejriwal has been infected with Corona Virus. Strange & shocking, he kept on preaching Delhiites to wear a mask & maintain Social distancing. But he himself never followed or obeyed his own instructions.

We just tweeted him today, saying:

Truly, we are not anti-Kejriwal, instead, we are looking for a more responsible Kejriwal, who understands the pain & agony of the residents of Delhi, that lost over 35K human beings during the 2nd wave, in the month of April, May 2021.

The symptoms of #Omicron may look Mild, but truly, it takes less than 24 hours to turn #coronavirus from MILD to WILD & we at Delhi, don't want the 2nd spell of Disaster at any cost.

    It must be noted:

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged people to skip holiday gatherings, warning that “an event canceled is better than a life canceled.”

    Dr. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe has urged people to get vaccinated at the earliest, avoid crowds, closed, and confined spaces; keep a physical distance from others; frequently wash hands; wear a mask; cough or sneeze into a bent elbow or tissue;

Weekend curfew in Delhi from Friday 10 pm to Monday 5 am amid Covid surge.

#Omicron Disaster being expected soon in Delhi !

#Omicron - Less than 100 cases a day to 2716 cases on the 1st day of January 2022, i.e. 27 times increase in just 12 days. In case the same pattern continues, Delhi may be on the verge of a big disaster by mid-January.

In case we start getting a Lakh of cases a day and in case a mere 2% require a ventilator, our Hospitals in Delhi will fail to provide it to the patients, as Delhi has only 1380 ventilators, all-inclusive, i.e. both Government & Private hospitals.

Why nothing is done to enhance the ventilator's capacity is surprising. In April, May 2021, we had lost almost 35K persons in this city, for lack of Beds, Ventilators, Oxygen & so on. In spite of facing a big Disaster, just a few months back, seems no lessons are learned by our Elected representatives.

Shockingly, India got 22875 cases in the last 24 hours with over 400 deaths in a single day. The situation has started worsening all over the country, though a few pockets, such as Delhi & Mumbai have become critical.

Delhi is definitely moving towards a BIG DISASTER in the next few days, in case we fail to take stricter measures to save the city. Besides, Delhi Government must arrange sufficient medical facilities, so that no life is lost in the absence of any of the utilities.
