BSES cheque collector held for extortion

New Delhi The BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has issued an advisory, asking all its customers to guard against “unscrupulous elements”, after it apprehended an employee of a firm responsible for cheque collection. The man allegedly tried to extort Rs 10,000 from a BSES customer.

The power discom has urged its customers to not get intimidated by threats and false assurances given by any individual in the company’s name “and not to give them any money whatever be the reason”.

“All enforcement-related payments (fines and penalties) are to be made only at BYPL offices,” a BSES official said.

BYPL apprehended and registered an FIR on August 11 against an employee of R S Associates, an outsourced company engaged for ‘cheque collection’.

“The employee of the contractor — Ram Rajan — was apprehended by BYPL Vigilance officials. An FIR has been registered against him,” an official said.
