(UNI) The Delhi High Court today stayed the fresh constructions at Kotla village in Mayur Vihar area and directed the police to ensure that no new work is carried on at the disputed site where the RWA’s allege that the public land is being encroached upon by the land mafia without proper sanctions.
Acting on the plea of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) through lawyers R K Saini and Sitab Ali Chaudhry last week, who alleged that encroachers and anti-social elements have started encroaching upon the public land at Kotla Village in Mayur Vihar, Vacation Judge, Justice Manmohan Singh directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to inspect the site and submit a report to the court in this regard.
Mr Saini told the court that the land in question is being encroached upon illegally and unauthorised construction is in full swing there and urged the court to ensure the removal of the illegal constructions.
The court, directed DDA to ascertain the claims made by the petitioners and identify the unauthorised constructions so that proper orders for its removal are passed by it.
The court asked DDA to assign a two-member team to visit the site and identify the nature of encroachments so that it becomes easier for court to pass suitable orders. UNI
